Ok, I know that in the OT, his chest box was strapped on. But that was only for the costume. In the SW universe, Vader's chest box is built into his chest. This was correctly demonstrated by Lucas in ROTS.

Straps may be good for costume authenticity, but I would prefer replication of what the character in the SW universe would wear, and not the actor's costume. Also, as anyone with a Medicom ROTJ Vader knows, shoulder straps can be very annoying because the chest box has a constant tendency to become crooked whenever you make an adjustment to the arms.

As long as it looks good, thats all I really care about. By the way, isn't that also the difference between the ROTS and ROTJ Medicom Vader? Isn't one strapped on and the other is attached to the suit? Has anyone noticed the pros and cons of either?

Screen accurate please - the built in box was just one of many little things I didn't like about the RotS suit. The small gloves was another.

I'd vote for whichever makes the figure cost less, outside of that I don't really care. If there's going to be a Vader for each movie of course then I'd say it should be screen accurate.

I'm torn on this one. I like the built in box better... but I also love my figures to be screen accurate. I still would rather have the built in box... :D

Its hard to say for me, I would like to have it built in, but movie accurate would be cool too...I voted built in though, I think it would work out better that way.....

I'd go for OT accuracy. I didn't like the ROTS Vader costume so I'm not bothered about how that looks as I won't be buying it. I wonder if the ROTS Vader will be on the short body to reflect the obvious size difference between Dave Prowse and Hayden Christensen?

But here's the deal guys. Vader's chest box was SUPPOSED to be built into his chest in the OT. The costume guys were just too cheap to go to all that work. Besides, it was easier to slip in and out of costume with simple strap ons. But I thought we are interested in the actual characters, not actors playing dress up.

Who is to say what is "supposed" to be? And what is a movie anyway but actors playing dress-up?

I read it in one of my SW books. The chest box is a direct connection to his vital organs including his heart and lungs. Also, in all the artist renditions of Vader I have seen, the chest box is integrated in the leather.

Haha, yes Dave, I was being facetious about the dress up. :) The point I'm trying to make is, I thought we are interested in the characters from the fictional SW universe, not actors with costume limitations.

Not to wake up sleeping dogs...but this rather reminds me of the debate over Vader's helmet, some expected the PF Vader to have a helmet look exactly like the prop used in ANH, others wanted it to look like it would if Vader were real.

I think Sideshow needs to go with screen accuracy. Just look how everyone picks figures apart if even the smallest detail isn't exactly like it is in the movies. Then again, people pick figures apart for all sorts of reasons.
