Just readjusting my spending habits and being more selective. :D

I don't think I'll collect until I die but I cannot say for certain. I could die tomorrow :dunno

That said, I am getting older and the standard prices rising to a point were I take issue spending that much for a toy. Then HT releases a prototype of a figure like Captain America and all those evil thoughts wasted away..... :wink1:

Yeah those fees suck! :(
OMG i'll probably have one the same soon:gah::horror
They are horrible and definately a real turn off for this hobby.

I've always collected something, even when I was younger but then I started buying statues that I loved.
I've severely cut back anyway and I'm on the verge on not getting anymore at all thanks to that charge. I just can't afford it.
While I will always collect something even if only little things like my hedgehog figurines (yeah, I like hedgehogs ;) :lol) I'm losing the passion in collecting statues that's for sure.
x :(
I can not believe you guys have to pay custom fees. That's gotta be horrible and a big hinder on your collecting.
Yeah, it really is a downer on collecting for us International peeps.
This latest charge is really making me re-think everything, I just can't be bothered with the hassle anymore and can't afford it.
I dunno, we'll see I guess.
x :wave

Unlike some of the folks here, I believe that Hot Toys figures are already getting way too expensive for what they're worth. I've seen a few of their stuff climb to prices slightly above $200 on SCC. I mean, common, these are figures, not statues. That said, for just $60 more, I can purchase one of the lower priced maquettes.

I have most of my big wants right now so I'm sperading out my purchases to reduce the strain on my wallet.

I'm also learning not to buy things that look cool in 1/6. For example I thought about Pre ordering Captian America but I'm not really into that charter. I would be buying just because it looks cool. I'm pretty sure that attuide with Hot Toys would be my downfall so I'm only buying major wants.

Likewise, i've always collected one thing or another, i've pre-ordered most of my stuff from now on and spread the payments out over the coming months, but i'll shall not have to get carried away:lecture, so many great statues coming out! and the excuse to the other half "there an investment" - she aint buying it anymore!:thwak

I agree. I tried to cut down. I do not really need a Captain right now. I really only saw the trailer. But that SHINY SHIELD is CALLING ME! :gah:

i think hot toys is getting ridiculous. some of those retail prices are slowly creeping up and people don't seem to notice or are too obsessed. $220 shipped for iron man mark 2? c'mon! just because you can take off certain armor pieces?

i will stop when the prices for the figures consistently go above the $175 mark.

I don't think I will stop. If prices get too crazy then I will prob slow down to like 2 or 3 a month, but not sure.

I've actually cut back drastically. The only Hot Toys figs that I'll add are core movie characters like Superman, Jack Sparrow, & Spiderman.

After that, I can pretty much say that I'm done with Hot Toys. There is only so much room (and trust me..they don't take up as much room as a 1:1 Bust or a PF) for them. I'd rather allocate my extra money towards saving or putting it towards bills.

You can take my figures when you pry them from my cold dead hands. :D

But seriously...I don't see myself stopping. Just readjusting my spending habits and being more selective. :D

:exactly:

If they continue to release figures of the lines I collect, then I won't stop. Space is an issue for me, and I'm already at the line of becoming much more selective. In the event that they stop making figures that I'm into than stopping will be much easier :D

Yeah, after Sparrow I am pretty much done with HT. I know the quality is good but its just way too much for a 12" figure now days. Thats why I am glad Sideshow still has the SW license because at least for now they are still somewhat affordable (of couse well see if that holds true when the next Vader comes out.)

I already quit, I haven't bought a boxed figure in ages. The only thing I have on pre-order is the Reeve Superman, and even that I'm starting to waver on. As much as I love the character, $200+ for something I'm going to take out of the box, pose up for maybe 10-15 mins. and then probably never touch again just doesn't seem like much bang for the buck.

I prefer working on the occasional custom these days. You can spread the cost out, and it's something you can actually work on and spend time crafting.
