save the money and buy the best but thats just me. because in the past i settled for less and i realized that if you buy cheap collectibles they will turn out to be the most expensive collectibles in the long run

I guess i prefer variety and quantity over only selecting a few choice expensive pieces...and noone can convince me, no matter how cool it is, that the hicks hot toys is worth 200-300 bucks...no way...

You're talking secondary market price with this piece. It's expensive because it's no longer being produced and it the "best" (this is in quotes because it's okay not great IMO, but you don't have many other options for the character) representation of the character todate. When it came out it was like what $80-$100. You can't really put this figure in your discussion 'cause it seems you're talking about figures at retail prices.

Here is answer to the great mystery of collecting in general:

"There will almost always be something better in the future."

very true, even figures from 3-4 years ago pale on comparison to what's offered on the market today. And there are quite a few old figures that I have wanted but never got it because it is just too much. ex: medi's kaneda from akira. the original goes for 2-3 thousand on the bay but now medi is offering a new one, so, patience pays off.

I never settle. I used to years ago, and found myself later with a pile of crap I wasn't really happy with and didn't want. Ebayed it all away, and now I only buy really nice stuff I'm sure I'll be happy with. I have less, but it feels like more.

I second that you only live once I too will go all out for the things that will make me happy you should too

When I bought my DCD Joker, I was not at all impressed by the much more expensive V1 Joker so had no regrets there. Once I saw Bank Robber Joker, however, I just had to get him -- the sculpt is mind-blowingly great.

If I had neither figure until now, I never would've bothered with the DCD. I guess what I mean is, if there's a superior (if more expensive) product available, I won't "settle." Unless Hot Toys somehow screws up Rorschach, I'm waiting for their version this time instead of "settling" for the DCD one... although it doesn't look bad at all.
