ok guys...finally sourced the clothes and such for an agent smith....got a little issue..picked up the GG bust and am trying to chop off the head....this is not as easy as I thought...any hints? I am trying to use a dremel....but I am about ready to break out the sawsall.....lol thanks for the help

Which dremmel tool are you using? I'd think one of the flat cutting disks would make short work of it.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm not a "professional" customizers like others on the board, but I don't think the saw would be a bad idea. I'd just cut lower than you need incase the saw wants to chip or break it off any higher than you really want it. Once it is removed, you could probably dremel the extra off and get the hole in the neck.

Start with a diamond cutting wheel (not the little breakable cutting wheels), and cut away the excess in slices, like bread, periodically sweeping in under the slices to lose them. It's important to wear a respirator and eye protection, and not a bad idea to work next to a running shop-vac.

When you've got it down to a stump, you can still use the diamond cutting wheel. Its edge isn't the only cutting surface. You can push it into areas you don't want and it will vaporize those areas (which is why you really need a good respirator). You can use the edge to dig in and then pull away from what you're trying to save, and the bottom surface of the wheel will also grind the material to powder quickly. If you need to smooth what's left, there are tube-shaped diamond bits that can help. There's one at right in the picture below.

You can get inexpensive diamond cutting wheels and bits at Harbor Freight. You probably won't need many -- maybe only one. They're pretty tough.

Here are four bits I do a lot with -- the two on the outside are the diamond bits you need for this:

I use the two in the middle for coring necks to fit adapters. I hope you have a variable-speed dremel. The wand extension is very helpful too.

Oddly enough Im just doing exactly the same thing. :)

Yep defo use some type of breathing mask and eye wear, Ive had a go at taking the necks of some casts recently and a liitle piece shot out and hit me in the eye, stuck dead center in my lense (not contact lense) and then the next morning Im showering and still spitting the dust from the recasts the next day !

So I aint using a dremmel now without eye wear and mask for sure

Yes, and an inferior respirator will leave you feeling real sick real fast.:monkey4

Re-reading my own post, I'm not sure if I was clear: the cutting wheel has three grinding surfaces: top, edge, and bottom.

thanks guys...its almost off....picking upsome of the tools that were suggested today...including a respirator.....breathing that stuff sucks....:monkey4:monkey4:emperor

diamond cutter worked awesome...was able to cut it off and also grind it down....total control...thanks all for the help! :chew:chew:chew...will post pics of my first custom in a few
