I don’t see the point in this movie at all. From what we see here it’s just a shot for shot remake of the animated version.

And even then the animated version has more heart and soul than this.

Who is this even for??

Yeah... I don't get the fascination with remaking animated movies into "live" action films with tons of CGI. What exactly is the point? I sort of understand if it is a different take on the material, but just take the damn cartoon and make it again? Doesn't make much sense, especially such a recent movie. What next? Shrek?

Ooooo! Shrek?
Shrek GIF

So the original already has a semi realistic look to it while being cgi and this one has cgi dragons and it looks like it’s the same story. So like… why make it? I get remaking a cartoon cause it’s a cartoon but if your original movie was already cgi and now this movie is still the same but with cgi. Then it’s basically the same damn movie just slightly enhanced.

Reminds me of “the last of us remake” fiasco where people swore up and down it was a new game while it was basically the same thing but with better graphics and slightly tweaked combat.

We really are in an era with absolutely zero creativity. It’s getting concerning

Damn, you're not kidding.

I was kinda interested to see where this was going and mainly the dragon designs, but they look exactly the same. Maybe the lighting is a bit more realistic or something, but it looks like they just did copy-paste from the animated movies.

And not just for the dragons. Outfits, helmets and locations as well. In fact it almost looks like they copy-pasted Butler's face on to the animated Stoic.

Yea like something like Toy Story. Which I think might be in the works. It already looks “semi” real already. What’s the point of remaking a cgi cartoon that is going to be cgi in live action? Seriously. Also this movie is t that damn old. It came out in 2011.

But honestly shrek would be interesting in live action cause there are rarely any human characters in the movie but it still would be a 97 percent cgi movie

It's for people who want to congratulate themselves for signaling virtue and checking boxes, all while losing a buttload of money.

Can't wait to see what a Nordic Viking princess looks like in live-action! Oh wait.

Gotta love how they've cherry picked the best possible images of the actors to push their agenda. :lol

I consider myself a very left-leaning liberal, but this is getting ridiculous.
I mean, I get it, it's a movie "based" on a fantasy cartoon, so there is no real reason why all the Vikings should be white, blue eyed and blonde, but are you seriously going to tell me she is the best actress for the role? Like, you went through the casting process and she came up and beat everybody else? That there was no ulterior motive for her casting?

Whatever, I don't even have any interest in this movie, so what do I care...

Going back to watching my fave Star Trek TOS episodes! :yess:

Because Disney has made billions off of live remakes. Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland are all in the top 50 highest grossing films of all time. These things put butts in seats.

(None of these are 100% original stories so you could argue the "original" animations were remakes too...but that's a different discussion. )

And the trend isn't going away anytime soon:

They have animated Moana 2 coming out this month and then a live version of Moana coming out in 2026.

Of course it was considered. Its was likely a requirement.....

But . That. Is. What. The. Job.of.a.corporation is!!!!!

Disney want diversity BECAUSE it widens audiences....and they spend MONEY.

?!?

how come they almost never cast Asian actors for roles? or middle eastern or anything, I actually like it when casts are actually diverse. representing the world. I want more Latinos as well...
