idk if people would still be so kind if she was Asian or Latina. The new Snow White is latina and and people can’t stand her.
because she's a very annoying person, super annoying .
but if they had made snow white Japanese then it would have been cool .

how come they almost never cast Asian actors for roles? or middle eastern or anything, I actually like it when casts are actually diverse. representing the world. I want more Latinos as well...
"Representing the world"
Where it makes sense sure but diverse Vikings are idiotic virtue signalling.
I prefer a diverse cast when it makes sense. Something set in the modern world, particularly a large city for example.
Or something like Star Wars where humans from all over galaxy interact.
Or an historical film set during Rome or a fantasy film that takes place in a major city with thriving trade, where merchants from far and wide travel.
A large port city for example. Makes total sense to have diverse peoples living and working there.
A small rural village a few days ride away from that big port city shouldn't be.
It just doesn't make sense when little villages miles and miles from any city are as diverse as a modern cosmopolitan city.

For this film specifically, it's completely unnecessary race swapping. And although it has fantasy elements, dragons, and features fantasy Vikings, horned helmets included, it's still supposed to be Vikings in Norway.

Not as egregious as the Vikings Valhalla show race (and gender) swapping Jarl Haakon.

And don't get me started on race swapping Anne Boleyn.

Diversity is great when it makes sense. You want a diverse cast in your fantasy movie? Great. Just make it make sense.

It's not about making sense in the film. It's about showing people that they are represented and hoping a character resonates with a new audience.
It's done for dollars.

oh no the general point I was making is that if Hollywood wanted representation then every movie would look like Captain planet or like the power rangers lol.
not specifically about this movie but in general

so even their representation stuff is fake

Because Disney has made billions off of live remakes. Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland are all in the top 50 highest grossing films of all time. These things put butts in seats.

(None of these are 100% original stories so you could argue the "original" animations were remakes too...but that's a different discussion. )

And the trend isn't going away anytime soon:

They have animated Moana 2 coming out this month and then a live version of Moana coming out in 2026.
Figures. Haven't seen any of those... :lol
