Looking at the solicit for the GG mini bust its apparent just how big Sauron will have to be in scale. The mini-bust clocking in at almost 12" means that a full bodied 1/6 Sauron would crest almost 24", right? How exactly do you think this will happen? Will SSC go the B-A-F route, making the exclusives of some figures various parts of Sauron? Will it be a big ticket Jabba like offering? Just wondering what you think will become of this one?

The WETA Sauron is 1/6, right? and he's about the size you listed. I sometimes pose my LOTR 1/6 figs with him but I'm not sure we'll ever see a 1/6 Sauron figure/doll/posable statue.

Jabba is 20" long....Sauron wouldn't be too much larger, more intricate of course but size doesn't seem to be an issue....

I was watching the movies just the other day and thinking about this issue. It seems unlikely that we'll get a 1/6 scale Sauron given the technical challenges and the way things are going with the line in general.

Also, a Gollum figure would be very tricky because it's practically naked (revealing the joints) and he doesn't have a normal posture. I think the only way they could do it would be to make it more like a Star Wars "creature pack" and not have it be completely articulated.

I hope they try though.

I would love to have a 1/6 Sauron, and there have been a few threads about it. But I think the size and cost of everything will keep this from happening. But I'd sure be stoked if it did happen.

The Toybiz Sauron was a great figure :rock

1/6th scale Sauron? Don't hold your breath. At the pace LotR stuff gets announced anymore these days, you 12" collectors will be lucky to have the entire fellowship by 2010.

I agree completely, and while my (pretty complete) toybiz collection is in storage the Sauron is most assuredly one of the top pieces--- I can't wait to get my movie room constructed in my basement so that the built in wall displays can show all of the LOTR stuff that unfortunately has to remain hidden due to lack of space.

I'd absolutely love for SS to release an accurate 1:6 Sauron--- but for the moment I'll be happy with the Gandalf the Grey and Gimli...

I'd love to see it happen too. And I can relate to you darth. I have all the toybiz ones and they are are basically stored under our guest bed do to lack of space but my plan is to build either part of helms deep or some other castle and display one of the sieges eventually once I have room and the time.

Sideshow cant do armor:cool:

:lol:lol:lol:rotfl:rotfl:lol:lol:lol

Seriously though, I scored the 1/6 SS/Weta Sauron statue a few weeks back on the 'Bay for $150+. Great deal no? It's AWESOME. SUPERB detail.

True, it's not poseable, but makes a GREAT backdrop to put in with the 'evil' 1/6 figs...if and when we ever get them.

Besides, Jabba's 'barely' poseable. I look at this much the same way. The looming presence and INCREDIBLE detail should suffice.

Great minds:D
I have two of the Helm's Deep AOME (I had a third but I gave it to a buddy of mine who had a hellish time getting back from Orlando with his family--- we had travelled with them but my wife and I got back easily on our flight... I digress-- but he needed a pick me up and what better way than a Helm's Deep?). I also bought the Toybiz figs specifically to collect what I wanted to display-- A Helm's Deep moment (which is why I'm so tempted by the new LOTR dio). About six berzerkers and at least fifteen Uruk Hai await deployment.

This is what I had displayed a few months ago--it's long since been packed away with the others.

Speaking of the dio line-- if we don't get a 1:6 Sauron wouldn't Sauron in a dio be an awesome thing?

It's as if a thousand Walets cried out in pain.
Seriously. they COULD do it, especialy with a little assistance from Hot toys. IF they did it, the easy method would be to make him imular to Kanamit. Make him all one piece. the armor would not need to be removeabale. just articulated ENough. IF they wanted to keep the cost down that is. Knee joints, ankle joints, wrist joints, forarm joints, elbow, shoulder, neck, etc. cover the joints with some mildly articulated armor, and it would not bee to tootaly different from jabba, and still Fairly poseable.

Personaly, I'd love a new Huge size body with a full costume, and complete articulation, but I really don;t see this happeneing. Not unless someone champions the task and makes him custom.

And if any of yuou guys know any hardcore SCA Armor smiths who like Fantasy armor, you might even be able to get his armor made in metal.
In all honesty, that really would not bee that hard to do. Sauron's armor is only somewhat complicated. it's a bit of an exagerated suit of German gothic 16th century armor, with some flare and acid etching.

Hell, before I quit Legends, I was in the process of designing a suit based off it ( minus all the spokes for safty reasons) For me to wear. We did not have alot of trouble scaling it down to my size ( the actor was HUGE) it's all just math. Kropsercle would probobly be a god place to start asking around.

That's not to say it wouldn't be expensive, but it can be done.

You know what would be awesome is if they engineered a 1:6 Sauron to be his incarnation as Anatar underneath the armor. :rock
