How will a 1/6 Sauron happen?

Great minds:D
I have two of the Helm's Deep AOME (I had a third but I gave it to a buddy of mine who had a hellish time getting back from Orlando with his family--- we had travelled with them but my wife and I got back easily on our flight... I digress-- but he needed a pick me up and what better way than a Helm's Deep?). I also bought the Toybiz figs specifically to collect what I wanted to display-- A Helm's Deep moment (which is why I'm so tempted by the new LOTR dio). About six berzerkers and at least fifteen Uruk Hai await deployment.

This is what I had displayed a few months ago--it's long since been packed away with the others.

Speaking of the dio line-- if we don't get a 1:6 Sauron wouldn't Sauron in a dio be an awesome thing?

That's awesome! Is it all from the AOME? I have one of those and a whole bunch of them boxed up somewhere else too but I never thought of incorporating perspectives and using them both together. I probably have somewhere between 30 and 40 uruk hai waiting to be deployed. This was pretty much the only thing I collected when I was in college and it wasn't until ss got the 12" that I got sucked into it and all their other figures ..... and hot toys....... and medicom

A 1/6th scale Sauron would be more of a PF than an action figure, though. Same with a Treebeard (who I MUCH rather have than a Sauron.)

Many that already have the amazing SS/Weta Sauron statue would not be double-dipping, I'm sure.

But I can see them creating Sauron and Treebeard in some type of "kit" form, rather than having to create a new body for each. Perhaps having the limbs molded separately and snapping into the torso?

I would LOVE to get a Treebeard in 1/6th scale, though. That would be impressive and could very well end up being the "Jabba" of the LOTR line.

Treebeard isn't real super high on my list. I'd get him but I'd rather have another Sauron honestly.

Dont' think the 1/6 will happen, but I would like something smaller than the SSW Sauron. I don't want to pay that much for him, but I also don't want himt hat big. Somewhere inbetween, either as a 1/6 or like a GG Maquette sized Sauron would be awesome.

This is exactly my line of reasoning...(the same for a Rancor).

Make them "PFs" that just happen to be in 1/6 scale. He can run about $300 or whatever, but atleast it gives a 1/6 scale collector an option. And a less wealthy 1/6 collector won't feel like their 1/6 collection is incomplete because its technically part of the PF line.

To be in scale, I think Treebeard would have to be almost 3 feet tall. Seems a little unlikely, although it would certainly be cool.

I think a 1/6th scale Treebeard would be a little over 26 inches tall, adding a couple of inches for the thick branch at the top of his head. So making him approximately 28 inches in total is certainly doable.

A 1/6th Sauron, based on my SS/Weta statue would be approximately 24 inches tall. Treebeard would only be about 4 inches taller. Not that big of a deal.

I would be extremely happy with simply a scaled up Toy Biz Treebeard (the talking version) which is very well designed, detailed and sculpted for a "toy".

Edited to add that a Treebeard statue was glaringly missing from the SS/Weta line (the bust is nice but certainly not as nice as a full Treebeard would have been) and I'm certain that if done well, not only the SS/Weta fans but the PF fans would be very interested in picking this one up.

I think if they were to do it, he would be a rotocast figure. It would be an expensive item to produce, but HT has already shown success at making large and complicated non-standard 1/6 figures. Or like what Medicom did with the Alphonse figure.

I have a doubt that Sideshow would ever do this alone, but I could see it happening if there is a team-up with HT. Heck, I'd be happy if they just used the WETA statue as a base for the sculpting and just added articulation.

We need the full fellowship, then a Saruman, Theoden, Eomer, Bilbo, Orc, Arwen, Eowyn, Galadriel etc and by then, at the current rate of release, I'll be 105 years old and Dead!!!

Sauron will NOT happen as a 1/6 figure. The statue is already 1/6 and to make an articulated figure would cost more than most people would be willing to pay.

I agree with Dave on that last post. What I would love to see though is a diorama of Isildur with Elendil's body, waving Narsil upward against an unseen Sauron. It would look great posed in front of the Sauron statue and could have an exclusive of whether or not it was the full sword or the "shard hilt". Much as depicted in the mural in Rivendell, rather than the actual film scene.

You really think that Sauron won't happen? I just don't see them using the WETA piece as their Sauron.....if the LOTR line continues I don't see how they could avoid the main antagonist.

If it happens I would say it's a long. long time away from happening, if we have had to wait this long for the R&D on Vader for the 1/6 scale SW line to be complete(and that line is a fairly hot selling line, so you would think they would have been able to develop a Vader by now), I would think the R&D on this would take a longer time especially with the line not selling as well as the SW line.

Always the sayer of nay... but you're probably right. I imagine this figure was probably always a pipe dream even early on. But the sales of these figures so far probably wouldn't warrant such a massive and expensive endeavor.

But I bet of HT had the license they'd make it happen :monkey3
