Are we so sure that the jet pack will be removable, or that the back of Robocop 3 won't be different so the jet pack can be put on?
I hope it's identical to the other two Robos, but I'll wait until I get confirmation that there will be no difference between the three main bodies.

I hate that Hot Toys so obviously bleed their customers in this fashion. I bought the first one, and yes it has a great paint job and the detail is exemplary, and of course the working holster is da bomb, but for the money I find the McFarlane one a better buy. Ugh it pains me to say that, and that it has an imaginative base.

I can't see Hot Toys making a special Robo just to accomodate the jet pack, and as they like to have their figures in parts to be assembled, I would think it would be able to be attached if required. I don't know for sure, and if I'm wrong Hot Toys will go down as Mildly Warm Toys in my book.

I don't know why, even after the explanations, what anyone has against this figure, just because it's the so-called Robo3 version. The only thing likely to be different may be the paint job. Like Sideshows exclusives, this version has all the accessories to make it THE one to have.

:lol Mildly Warm Toys!
I think there will be either holes in his back and arms, or the pack will be glued down permanently, I just get that feeling.
I own the McFarlane Robo and it works for me. I'd just like a clean no damage Robo. With all three of these there will be plenty to pick from. I might have to just buy Robo 2 and forget there's a Jet pack Robo, it does sound kind of stupid.
But then, once I have a HT Robocop, I'll be itching to get that Ed-209. :monkey4

I am a die-hard Peter Weller as Robocop fan. He played him in the first two Robocop movies, and I just don't have any interest in the Robocop 3 figure at all. I finally forced myself to sit through Robocop 3 a few months ago. I skipped it in theaters when it came out because I knew that Peter Weller was NOT in it as Robocop. His replacement.....Robert John Burke.....sucked! He just didn't capture the essence of the tortured soul of Alex Murphy that Peter Weller did. I had rented Robocop 3 on videotape, but immediately turned it off when they made the "brilliant" decision to kill off officer Ann Lewis?! Huh....what the **ll?! You could definitely tell that Paul Verhoeven's presence was missing in Robocop 3. I know that Frank Miller, the masterful writer and artist of Sin City and 300, wrote Robocop 2 and 3. He has said in recent interviews I've seen that he was NOT happy with how they were done.

I still want to get the first Hot Toys Robocop and ED-209. I agree with most of you that Robocop....with a jetpack....is just lame! :monkey4 I mean he is supposed to be an ominous and powerful presence...on the ground. Not in the air! I will get the Robocop 2 Cain now that it has been announced that Hot Toys will be making it. I enjoyed Irvin Kershner's direction of Robocop 2. I mean...c'mon....this is the same guy that directed to me, the best Star Wars movie...The Empire Strikes Back! :D

I bought the second version they released. The gun arm version. It was cheaper than the jetpack and first version..... and I don't care that it says Robocop 3 on the box.... I dont put the box on my display shelf! lol

This version kept the accurate paint job of the first version, so looks just like the proper Robocop 1 outfit.... and the gun arm, while cool, will jjust stay in the box.

Also the helmet sits slightly more accurately than the jetpack version which can be removed, but sits slightly higher as a result.

In terms of cost vs. what you get if you want a Robocop 1 Robocop? get the second version, the Robocop 3 gun arm version..

The only think I miss is the fact that the back of his head isnt sculpted... 'cause I want to do a mask-off Peter Weller face... and it means I have to figure out how to sculpt all the detail on the back of his head.... which the jetpack version has.

oh and for the record.....

Robocop 1 just rules :rock
Robocop 2 is an OK film, but with sucky parts (and cool parts)
Robocop 3 had some interesting ideas, but was trying to be a comedy as well.... some of the performances and sound effects looked more in place in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. Rip Torn (who I usually love) was overplaying the role.... but Robocop in the pimpmobile made me laugh out loud... I loved that part, lol

but if you want a Robocop film? Paul Verhoven's version is the one to watch ;)

HOT TOYS ED-209 VS. KENNER ED-209
DSC06388.jpg

The Kenner ED-209 is WAAAAY better than the Hot Toys ED-209! First, the Kenner ED fires caps. IT FIRES CAPS!!! Just think--you could re-enact the Murphy blown away scene over and over with a bunch of small, black powder explosions. Second, as you can see, the Kenner version has a sticker on the front. A STICKER! That poo was mad fun to apply. Thirdly, the Kenner ED clicks when you move it's legs--ALMOST LIKE IT SOUNDS IN THE MOVIE.

"CLICK, CLICK, CLICK 'You are resisting arrest!' CLICK, CLICK"

:lol:lol:lol OMG... i had one of those when i was a kid. my parents hated buying it for me because it went nuts with the caps!!!

I have both robocop 1 and robocop 3 w/ jetpack. I like them both, but I guess I like robocop 1 better,so I plan on displaying robocop 1 w/ robocop 3's jetpack and gun arm by his side somewhere, and maybe sell or trade robo 3 figure by its self.

I have the Criterion Collection Limited Edition Uncut version of Robocop on DVD. It is the first one with deleted scenes added back into the movie that gives it something close to today's "NC-17" rating, or just "unrated" like most DVDs come out with now. It has the famous boardroom scene where ED-209 keeps shooting that poor guy after he malfunctions, and towards the end when Emile is shown in his melting state after getting drowned in that toxic goo, before he gets splattered all over the van! Alex Murphy's death scene is a little longer, and more graphic than in the theatrical version too.

The Criterion Collection Robocop is LONG sold out in stores, out-of-print, and not sold anymore. If you want it you may still find it on www.amazon.com or eBay. I love it! It is the ultimate version of the first...and best...Robocop movie to me. Plus it's got tons of extras in it too. Well worth the money! :D

In fact....here's a link to one on auction at eBay now....Check it out!

They have never done an uncut, or "ultimate" version of Robocop 2. I would like to get one if it's ever made. I DO NOT want to own Robocop 3.

Here's a picture of the front of the DVD box. Very cool, looks like metal behind the Robocop movie title logo.

What is the running time of this version? And in the scene were Murphy is getting killed is the added part where he gets his arm shot off?

The extended edition on the Criterion disc is the same version that you can find on MGM's Robocop Trilogy box set and the forthcoming 2-disc anniversary edition coming out at the end of this month.

The version I have is just a single disc cheap-o one, so I'm guessing its the theatrical... Guess I'll have to upgrade.

Can someone post some pics of Robocop 3. I'm curious to see what this looks like.

Yeah, that's the theatrical cut. Just wait until the anniversary edition on the 21st. It's two-discs with a ton of features and the director's cut, and it's only going to be $15.

In an attempt to steer this thread back to the subject, can anyone post side-by-side photos of the Robocop and Robocop 3 figures?

Nick
