I agree, it was one of my concerns as well. That it would not translate. But after seeing how Les Walker's spikey haired hicks turned out, I think it would work fine in 1/6 (obviously the hair style would be different for house, but you get the idea):

I agree, if handled right it will look great!

I have confidence that whatever Chris does will look fine. :rock

yeah i'd be inclined to go along with that. I really need to get some of Chris's stuff in my collection to paint up once my finances are sorted out. Love your work Chris! :bow

Very nice Carbo. I plan on getting similar/the same clothes. I was a little disapointed the the shoes are a bit big in person. But the style is right on for House.

bought these for house.... and then I saw him wearing black and white colored dunks on the 1st episode of season 4....

Gatack, fantastic find. I have a set of adidas for my Kolchak & the look so amazing. These House builds re gonna be off the hook. Damn, it's not even complete & they all look like on of the best 1/6 figs of 09. To bad the big companies don't pay attention. are they losing out. HA our gain though

Out of the bunch of potential house shoes I have those are my favorite Gatack. Still thinking of painting them black.

yeah I think these are best for house.... black and white seems a bit plain. kba what jeans are those? they look really good for 1/6 scale.

What pants did you use for your custom? They fit very well.

those look like the James Dean Hot Toys jeans, which incidentally I also have (per KBA's recommendation) and are outstanding.

Yep, they're the James Dean Jeans, by Hot Toys. Cowboy version.

There's just no way around it. I'm going to have to get the James Dean cowboy for the jeans.

Scaling from the photograph, it appears that Ada's head is only about 1.45 to 1.5 inches from chin to top of skull which is way small for a 1/6 figure. That would make him about 8 heads tall.... a proportion I have always found ridiculous.

I base my heads on a 7.5 head tall body. Looks much more natural. That results in a head that measures 1.6 inches from chin to top of skull. This varies a bit based on the individual, of course, but it gives me a good initial size.

Hi Chris, with that Super Sculpey stuff you're using do you have to sculpt the master head a certain percentage bigger than you want the final heads to come out? I mean does it shrink when it's hardened or during casting?

Howdy!

No, Super Sculpey Firm doesn't have any appreciable shrink upon curing. It's pretty darn stable. You can get a shrink in reproduction, but with the rubber resin combo I use it's virtually undetectable, less than 1%.

Mostly it's when I sculpt for reproduction in vinyl I have to take shrink into consideration. Rotational vinyl, for example has a shrink of about 9%. Half comes from the wax step, the rest from the vinyl itself. This varies slightly by manufacturer due to differences in wax formulation and temperature at which the vinyl is poured, but it's usually in the 7 to 10% range. I'll describe the whole rotational vinyl process one of these days if anyone is interested. I find it interesting, but I'm strange that way! :D

On a side note, to all aspiring sculptors out there, I recommend the pro quality Super Sculpey Firm. Unlike it's more common translucent pink cousin, regular Super Sculpey, SS Firm has an opaque density and gray color that makes it much easier to see the surface you are working on. And, as the name implies, it has a firmer texture so it holds it's shape better before hardening in the oven. Random sculpting thought of the day.....

I'm assuming thats different from Sculpey III? I usually use the small blocks of elephant gray.

Where can one purchase this stuff Chris?
