Wife volunteered to go see this with friends, so I escaped this installment. :yess:

Sorry, fans, but I prefer my archers with pointy ears. :lol

I haven't seen Mockingjay yet but the first two hunger games are better than any of the hobbit films.

This series is just a giant rip-off of Battle Royale. But, I saw the first two movies, and I have to admit, they were okay :lol. I think I'll wait a few months until this goes for free viewing on Amazon Prime, just like the last two films >__>.

Haven't seem this yet but I won't be surprised if I like it more than the Hobbit film. I suppose expectations were higher with that series and it just didn't meet them with the first two films so.....I'm kinda presuming likewise with the final part.

Have not gone yet but wish I didn't read the last book. I enjoyed the first 2 films without having read the books. Now my interest in going to see this is way down.

I've enjoyed each of these movies....third ones tone was very dark...bring on the final installment....

I'm with you, and I think this one was my favorite one yet. I'm not sure what the hates about, I didn't feel like this was fluff or boring. The first one was good, the second one was great, and this one was great. It's very different from the last two and I feel it was all the better for it. I'm now quite excited for part 2.

While I enjoyed watching this in the theaters, it was/is the weakest movie in the series so far IMO.

I hope part II is better.
:lecture I felt the same. I rewatched the second one the night before seeing Mockingjay, but I definitely felt underwhelmed.

Not good eh? I was going to skip this and go see The Hobbit next month instead.

It's not bad at all. IMO they didn't need to split this book into 2 parts. I haven't read the 3rd book yet, but the movie could've been condensed by a good 30-45 minutes without losing any significant storytelling.

Finally got around to seeing this film. I do agree with others that it shouldn't have been split into 2 films.

I have always felt they miscast Gale and Peeta. Neither actor shares any real chemistry with Lawrence in any of the films.

I saw this last night. Speaking as someone who is not really "into" this series. I was pretty much lost. I don't remember what happened in the last movie, so I was really confused as to why Katniss was in a medical facility. I kind of pieced together that she shot an arrow at the force field surrounding the arena they were fighting in and there was a big electrical explosion and the District 13 people came to rescue her?? I kind of vaguely remember that from the last film, unless I'm just making a movie in my mind.

Anyways, I would agree that none of the characters have any chemistry. IIRC, Katniss and Gale were an item, and Peeta entered the love triangle. . . but in Mockingjay I didn't see any sexual tension or anything between Katniss and Gale.

I was kind of confused about Peeta's makeup, I assumed the Capitol people were trying to make him look more gaunt than he actually was, then when he's revealed at the end, he actually is pretty thin. So, I didn't really understand the point of the weird overly-done theatrical make-up.

I've never read the books, but I've heard the triangle is pretty subtle, so it's not like a Twilight kind of thing. As I see it in the films, Gale loves Katniss, but she saw him as a friend. When he was badly beaten in Catching Fire, she kissed him. In Mockingjay, after Gale tells them of the violent attack on District 12, she kisses him again. It is then that he realizes she only kisses him when he is in pain. Their romance is really one sided with Gale being the one with the feelings.

The makeup in the Capitol is very over the top for both men and women, so they were making Peeta appear more like a person who had accepted their way of life.

You remembered the the end of Catching Fire correctly. Katniss is rescued by District 13 along with Finnick and the other guy. Joanna and Peeta were not with them at the time, therefore were left behind. When she wakes up she discovers that the Game master is working for the resistance and discovers that Peeta was left behind.

The chemistry between Peeta and Katniss really reminds me of Padme and Anakin lol. They just seem more like brother and sister. I can't quite put my finger on it, it just doesn't look right to me.
