I don't know about you, but one of my most anticipated movies of 2012 is almost here - The Hunger Games. With a release just in a couple more weeks, it's the earliest of the big movies for the year, and I have my hopes up for a quality movie. NECA picked up the license, and they wisely have their first series of action figures shipping in time for the film's release. Check out my review of Katniss, Peeta and Gale at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

Are you talking about Gale? I think the outfit is too movie-specific for it to be a re-use, I think it's just a matter of the same sculptor interpreting pants and a shirt.

I'm a big fan of the books, just not sure I feel the need for these figures. They are fine for what they are, but I do think more accessories, or possibly slightly different clothing options, might have helped.

Yea, I never bought any of the Twilight figures (or read a book or saw a movie), but I don't think there's any re-use here. Too movie specific.

The outfits on Peeta and Katniss are obviously their main Games clothing, but I'd be real surprised that if these do well we didn't see their interview outfits at least. It's hard to judge whether you want them in these outfits or not until you see the movie.

yes I thought Gale was a re-use
so far we have Neca,Tonner and Barbie doing this movie
would like to see Hot Toys do Katniss
we need a Jennifer Lawrence figure
and I don't think they are doing Mystike

That's some bad paint jobs on these.
Who in their right mind would buy those?

I would. Only reason is I love the hunger games and since I doubt HT would ever pick up this license I will definatly get them and as a matter of fact they are being shiped to my house now. I'm not getting Gale though.

Good review - they are kind of boring, especially Gale - but I'm sure the same kids picking up the Twilight figures will be all over these.

I do take exception to the "first big blockbuster of 2012" - JOHN CARTER opens this week and hopefully will be the next Avatar!

I bet the Barbie will be the best of the lot... they tend to do pretty good with celebrity likeness dolls.

Go look up

Halle Berry (Die Another Day)
Penelope Cruz (Pirates)
Blake Lively (Green Lantern)
I Love Lucy
Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns)
Kate Winslet (Titanic)
Farrah Fawcett
Cher

among others

not sure I agree with you
but I do remember seeing a Cher that looked like her
I'm waayyyyyyyyyyyyy too lazy to look those up

John Carter has flop written all over it. Even the merchandising king - Disney - doesn't have enough faith in it to even make toys from it. Thats never a good sign for a 'blockbuster.'

Hunger Games figures is kinda odd. The only way to make these fun would be to have some kill figures like the the gears of wars line, but then you'd be making a dead kid, and I doubt that would go over well. I think these are a wait and see the movie kind of figures.
