As someone who almost exclusively collects 1/4 scale figures, it's exciting to see topics like this.
So, factoring how much space they occupy, you have to pick primo/top choices. As much as I love (and would still buy) deep-cut figures, you really need to select the staples of the line. No non-articulating or premium format statues.
With that said, these would be the absolute champions of my collection -
Captain America Endgame w/ shield and Mjolnir - The Neca figure has a surprisingly genuine presence but I would prefer mixed media and a lifelike head sculpt. Also, the fact he's from 'Civil War,' doesn't quite fill the void.
Indiana Jones - Hot Toys might do a solid job but I would love to see a third party tackle this.
The Ghostbusters - Fight Me. Blitzway did a great job with the 1/6 scale. The detail on 1/4 would be unmatched.
Gandalf the Gray LOTR - Again, the Neca version has such a good presence but the articulation is dubious and only looks good in the designed position. Inart crushed the 1/6 version, they'd HAVE to do this. I couldn't imagine having more real estate for even more detail.
The Rocketeer - Haven't even seen a great 1/6 version.
Jedi Luke ROTJ - I thought Bespin Luke might work well with the Hot Toys 1/4 Darth but if you have to pick one...
Ash Williams Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness - For obvious reasons.
Rick Deckard Blade Runner - This is a recent addition for me. I finally got into Blade Runner and suddenly I get it, so this is a must.
A few tertiary figures I'd jump at:
Edward Scissorhands
Beetlejuice
Ghoul from They Live
Darth Maul
Obi-Wan Kenobi
@Godfather1408 Bro, keep up the good work! Beetlejuice is on my 1/4 customs list. Are you posting progress in a thread?
Awesome! Glad to see more enthusiasm for quarter scale figures! So cool that you're focusing primarily on 1/4 figures, and I can see one of the many reasons why - they're just top tier figures, IMO. To have such a LARGE, articulated figure is just amazing; the sheer presence of them, and the larger format provides a bigger canvas to provide even more detail. Man I remember my first 1/4 figure, the HT QS AOU Iron Man Mark XLV, I was just absolutely blown away.
Ha! Nice!! The NECA Mk43 was my first Iron Man and I thought I would keep it to that. I had seen the HT version but wasn't that serious a collector yet. But when I found a full Mk3 torso for $36 it fascinated me. The detail and articulation was next level. It wasn't until I found a battle-damaged Mk3 head (paid almost twice as much just for the head), and I was taken in by the face sculpt/paintwork. It officially convinced me of what I was missing with HT and other top-tier mixed media 1/4 figures. I found a Mk3 figure unopened for dirt cheap. Spiderman was next, then I worked up the courage to order the Mandolorian w/Child. I couldn't stop after that, 100+ figures later. I still collect Neca figures and the occasional Diamond Select Quarter Scale/Art Asylum, but the real grails are the figures long out of stock. I'll eventually get the other Iron Man figures (that pre-order Mk4 and Gantry is calling my name). Until then my true hunts are for the HT Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton and the Enterbay Terminator T-800 clean version. Other than that, it's all about the customs until something makes it to the market.I was lucky enough to pick up a right arm & chestplate for the 1/4 mk3 so i could do a much more bd version. i mainly collect iron man so i have the 3 42 43 45 & spider man plus a neca midas which i heavily bd which was fun as so much of it is solid rubber.
Man, I can't tell you how tough it's been trying to get into this hobby at the 1/4 scale level. Pieces are few and far between and when I can find something of value, I expect to be bent over a barrel.
I see the sheer numbers and iterations of characters in 1/6 and I can't help but feel a little jealous. The third-party market has some of the best head sculpts/soft goods I've ever seen, let alone officially licensed figures. The best I can count on is another iteration of a Nolan Joker (I think there's maybe 6 now) and a re-release of something from Neca.
That being said, I'm thoroughly enjoying the sport of hunting for deals or finding gems in the wild, frustrating as it may be.
Ughh, I wish I had the Iron Man MK XLV! I only have the MK3, which I love, but I plan to purchase the other versions when the price is right. I have the Play Imaginitive War Machine (two actually, but I need the Iron Patriot). He's great, lots of die-cast, but weighs as much as a toddler.
I wish more people saw how great the 1/4 figures are and how much more detail can be included. I understand the space issues but you are correct, the presence of some of these has to be seen to be believed. One day, maybe.

That's so true! I'm certain if there were more 1/4 figures out there, there would be a larger fanbase. Everyone complains about the lack of space for 1/4 scale but I'll find a way. I have cases filled with 1/4 accessories and parts/pieces I've scoured. The next step in the evolution is building the display. I have limited space myself but if I can execute what I'm planning, it should be epic and jammed with figures.Yeah it seems 1/4 scale figures are indeed few and far between, especially at the pace HT tickles them out. They've shown the Iron Man Mark II and VI at events, but have yet to solicit them. Of course the production/distribution of 1/4 figures pale in comparison to the exploding popularity of 1/6 But I'm nonetheless happy we're getting some. Tracking down missed/past figures can be kinda a big hassle, especially in regards to aftermarket prices . Shoot, I'd like a rerelease of the HT QS Terminator Endoskeleton. Yeah Neca's 1/4 figures are solid, especially for the price, my fav 1/4 Neca is their Arkham Knight Batman.
I've got an extra War Machine, minus Don C. headsculpt (dude forgot to include the head:-/), if ever you get interested.Best of luck on your search for a QS MK XLV! It's an amazing piece, and the amount of detail, engineering and moving parts is just AWEsome! I've heard good things of the PI figures, but unfortunately missed the boat on those lol Same with the EnterBay figures, I wish they kept on producing theirs to have more variety, but, alas..
Much agreed! I think HT's 1/4 line is mostly comprised of glorious figures and in my opinion have tremendous presence.

That Batman Arkham Knight figure is great, one of the best!

My dream 1/4th figure is raimi Spider-Man . Also returns Batman
I personally buy the figure, specifically one of the enterbay ko, and strip it down to the bare body. I like using the fire toys bruce leehi, i dont see 1/4 male bodies on ebay ( not much on a google search) so do regular users 3d print them or just pad out armatures for more static figures . many thanks ian.
