I love former Piston GM's!!!

I CANT BELIEVE HOCKEY AINT THE #1 WATCHED SPORT IN THE US..IT IS SO AWESOME...

I don't know if the sport will ever catch on here like it should. But, I will say, beyond a shadow of the doubt, hockey fans are the most dedicated and passionate about the sport than any other major sport profession. Unlike all other sports there is rarely (bertuzzi) bad national headlines about their players. I could go on and on, but people either "get" hockey or they don't.

All hail the great 66!!

MARIO LE MAGNIFIQUE! SUPER MARIO! MARIO THE MAGNIFICENT!

NO. 66 MARIO LEMIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUXXXXXXXXX

Drafted 1st overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft

Scored a goal in his first game on his first shift against Boston.

73-43-57-100 as a Calder (Rookie of the Year) freshman.

76-85-114-199 in 88-89. 1 point shy of breaking 200! Being the only second player to do so. Also only the third NHLer besides Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr to record 100 or more assists in a season.

Owns a NHL playoff record 8 points (5g, 3a) in the 89' playoffs against the Philadelphia Flyers. Only player in NHL history to score 5 different goals in one single game. Even strength, power play, short handed, penalty shot, and empty net.

46 game scoring streak. Second longest in NHL history! And was not broken because he was unable to produce in his 47th game, but because Ulf Samuelsson took him out of the game, and ended his season at 59 games. Enter his bad back problems.

Then came Hodgkin's lymphoma which is a throat cancer. Reduced his season down to 26 games. Still, went on to win a second Stanley Cup, scoring 16 goals and 34 points in 15 games for his second straight Conn Smyth. Took a year off in the NHL strike shortened 94/95 campaign. Recorded 69 goals and 160 points in 60 games on a bad back. It was so bad that the personal trainer had to tie his skate laces. With that, and coupled with the fact he had been going through cancer treatments, and the stress and anxieties one takes on with that, he still dominated the scoring charts in 92/93 by averaging 2.66 PPG! Which is .01 off the NHL record. I doubt even the "Great One" could accomplish that feat!

Lest we not forget what he has done for the Pittsburgh Penguins off the ice in the board room. He helped maintain the Penguins in the Burgh and kept interest at an optimum high.

Mario Lemieux was relentless in making certain the Penguins remained where they have been since 1967, in good ol' Steeltown, USA!

Yes, my furry squirrel friend, I do know of this No. 66 you speak of. I know of him well. :D
