I've never quite understood if only one company is allowed the 1/6 license (Hasbro->Sideshow?), how is Medicom making their Indy and SW figures? And since Sideshow seems to be slowing their trickle of releases to 'on hold' status, would Hot Toys ever have an opportunity to try out this license?

Surprise, surprise. Yet ANOTHER "will Hot Toys pick up the line" BS thread by who? JustinLuck aka wannabe Hot Toys spokesman. Justin, newsflash...

Medicom has the Asian rights to Indiana Jones and Star Wars. WON'T HAPPEN!

They haven't picked up Lord of the Rings, what makes you think they will pick up another unprofitable line like Indiana Jones?

Dude, chill out:). I think the reason people would be excited about this is that if Sideshow only releases the 3 figs, it would be great if someone else picked up the license. This happened with the Planet of the Apes line.

Also, you can't deny the incredible quality of Hot Toys releases the last couple of years. I would love to see what they would do with Indy.

Lastly, studios often grant MULTIPLE licenses in certain regions. Case in point, the recent announcements by Enterbay and Hot Toys concerning Don Corleone from Godfather. They're both doing 12" Corleone figs. I think the competition ultimately makes it better for the customer.

I would be down. I don't get the blind loyalty to one company around here. The title of the thread is "If Sideshow ends the line...", so if SSC give up Indy, which I'm sure all the Belloq cancellations aren't helping, it would be great for Ht to pick up the line. And don't blame fan interest, blame Belloq! $90 for that? Um no. I love Sideshow, but the price increase is getting ridiculous given their quality has not changed.

Its not blind loyalty, well, on my part. It's the fact that you can't pop into any without without seeing one of Justin's "If _____ ends the line, could HT pick it up?" threads. It gets real old, fast. As a matter of fact, I'm certain there's one already that he started MONTHS ago here in the Indy forum, buried by irrelevance. There are more than five in the Star Wars forum, the LOTR forum, the Military forum, etc, etca...

I see what your saying, sucks on both sides when people bash companies, and technically this is a Sideshow Freaks forum:cool: I'm holding out for Toht and will see what happens when he ships. I just don't want Belloq when I would have to spend more $$$ just to fix their lack of quality on him.

TNM, yes, please show us the other "If _____ ends the line, could HT pick it up?" threads. I would certainly like to see the five in the SW forum, in the LOTR forum, and in the Military forum you are referring to.

Belloq not selling well has nothing to do with the license itself. People have been interested in Indy memorabilia since ROTLA was released in 1981. TWENTY-EIGHT years later, people are still buying related merchandise. Sideshow ends lines that are not profitable to them. But their lack of sales is not because there is no interest. It is their lengthy delays between pre-order and actual release of product combined with quality that does not match the asking price that causes people to cancel.

Now Hot Toys is making Planet of the Apes figures. You think that series of movies is more popular than LOTR or Indy?

With HT collaborating on the armored figs we get the best of both worlds: HT design without the exorbitant pricing!

AFAIK, the design of the armored figures are all in-house at Sideshow with the exception of the body that lies underneath. Either way, the Stormtroopers look fantastic.

I e-mailed Hot Toys last week if they ever considered making an Indiana Jones figure. I just got this standard reply in my inbox:

Hello Justin,

Thanks for your valuable comment & support in Hot Toys products! The information will be forwarded to our production team for their reference. Please keep visiting our official website for getting our most updated news!

Best regards,
KT/ Hot Toys

I emailed them last year to ask about a Christopher Reeve Superman figure and got exactly the same reply; I figured it was a stock reply, which was confirmed when I emailed them asking if they would consider doing a line based on Coronation Street starting with an Ena Sharples figure and got the same response.

After getting The Joker (version 1), I'd pay the price for a Hot Toys Indiana Jones. If it happens, great. But you won't see me holding my breath.

The delays hurt more than anything. The quality of SS products has done nothing but get better and better as a whole. I don't see the asking of the price for SS items not matching the figures we're getting. I'll repeat that if you or others that feel SS quality doesn't match the price aren't planning on buying another figure from them. TMM is right though on one thing with you Justin is you're a broken record when it comes to things on SS as much as I may have ever been. They rarely make something that you don't have a problem with.

I agree that there seems to be the same drinking of the kool aid for how Hot Toys does nothing wrong. Just like anyone they have their issues and will have them down the road. I'll be curious as I watch really from the outside if the HT fanboys will admit it when they make mistakes.

As far as the POTA line. I doubt that goes much past the initial release honestly. I mean Iron Man kicked ass this summer and is/was as big as anything and all they've announced is the 3 versions of the suit.

The way I see it, Sideshow made terrible choices of the characters that followed Indy.
It should have been
Temple Indy, Professor Indy, Kotcs Indy, Henry Jones then Short Round, Marion and River Phoenix Young Indy.
Medicom made better choices, shame about the sculpts of Indy but Henry Jones was really good.
But if more Indiana Jones stuff gets made by another company, Im sure Sideshow will supply it

That's the biggest issue I have with Sideshow sometimes... Especially in the case of LOTR and Indy... they just choose the wrong characters, and in doing so.. the line falters and dies.

Belloq shouldn't have been the second figure, they could have just made Toht and them later Henry or Mola Ram, or even Temple Indy or Marion. Belloq was really a strange choice.

That's like making Luke Skywalker as their first Star Wars figure and following that with the Jedi librarian from Episode II... Jocasta Nu. :lol
