Where in the hell did you here a rumor of a 1/6 Chewy? Not more then 3 months ago Sideshow said there will be NO 1/6 Chewy, they dont want to make a scuplted one and a fur one will just not work in a full production run, or something like that. Basicly NO 1/6 SS Chewy

I've heard the rumblings that it will be difficult, but never a definite word that he will not be made. The only figures I've ever head them say would not be made is General Grievous and Jar Jar (although I think they may have unfortunately stepped back about Jar Jar).

Is there a press release were you got this info from? Or any official word?

I didn't hear them back off of Jar Jar but Dave over at RS posted the original interview saying they'd never make a Grevious and reported that after Jabba hit and went over well with its higher pricing that SSC called him and asked if he reported the Grevious comments....I think they are reconsidering Grevious not Jar-Jar.

As for the Chewbacca and Ewoks, I used to be in the real fur camp but after seeing how impressive MediCom's Wicket looks sculpted I could care less at this point I just want Chewbacca in my collection.

Ahh but there's something to be said for real fur:

They said at CIV Panel that have been working on for a while and but it was going to be to hard to in production, and that they wont do a sculpted Chewy. It was a pretty definite no the way it was said.

You're damn right there is.

I don't care how well sculpted he might turn out. THAT is how I would want a Chewbacca figure to look, and by virtue of the fact that this picture exists, the argument for it not being possible needs to hop back on the short bus and gets it's dim ass back to the classroom, in the basement, right next to the boiler room and the janitor's office.

SSC take note: price no object. Now, vamanos. Ondele. Boushh is lonely.

There is a huge difference between that and what SS would be doing, there are a maybe a dozen two dozen of those tops. To hand craft a few dozen is easier to get those kind of results then make 1000-2000 of them. No one from SS has said it cant be done but a production run of 1000-2000 can't be done with the results that would be needed.

Well, as absolutley awesome as I think my Chewy is, price is some object.... I paid an obscene amount of money for him, (WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!:D) but if my wife ever found out how much, the price would rise to 1/2 my house, 1/2 my salary, and 1/2 my pension after she kicked me out on my arse. Let's just say I could have bought a couple of Aliens power loaders and still had a chunk of change left over.... The quality work and time commitment of a customizer such as I got him from probably rules out ever seeing anything comparable coming off an assembly line.....

I see. I suppose I got a little excited after seeing how amazing that figure is. I've heard tell of Chewbacca customs, but I've never seen one.

$500+ is a lot for a figure, but you're right that every penny shows. Shines, as it were.

It's hard for me to accept the fact that even something less well done than that is impossible. Oh well. It's a good argument for saving my own pennies.

I don't want to offend anybody with a furred Chewie, but I really don't like they way the look. I definitely appreciate the detail and work and they are obviously the best 1/6 versions out there. But the faces usually just don't have enough of Chewies character for me. Maybe that's due to the base Hasbro figure.

I would be fine with a sculpted figure if it means I get a 1/6 Chewie and that it rocks ass. If fur can be done thats cool too... but I'd rather have a sculpted one than none at all.

I think the Ewoks on the other hand would be easier to fur since their coats were shorter and more coarse... not with the long flowing strands of Chewbacca.

And those 1,000-2,000 would likely just be the exclusives. Imagine the thousands more that would be needed for the regular run.

I saw one suspiciously similar to this one at a collectibles show in southern clifornia. Did you find this one in that vacinity?

You're referring to mine? Actually I got this one from a guy in Ontario, Canada. He sold one on E(vil)bay that went for an insane amount of money and I contacted him directly. Does a lot of other cool StarWars custom stuff too.
