The only thing which would be going through mind if a fire broke out is to get my family to safety. My figure collection would be the last thing on my mind.

I love my collection, I'm a born collector, I've put a lot into my personal collection, both in terms of time and money, but at the end of the day it's just stuff, and most of it can conceivably be replaced, given enough time and money. Not all, but most.

Family, pets, heirlooms, photos, things that have true sentimental value, those things can't be replaced, so they always take priority. Always.

Safety for anything with a pulse first, family/sentimental items second, 'stuff' very distant third.

This. Statues are just stuff I bought and can buy again. Memories attached to my non-digital pics (which are 98% in my case) are irreplaceable. I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

Yes, I still shoot film. Cue that diplodocus pic.

Let em burn.

I'm insured and it would be a great relief not having a toy collection anymore. I'd be upset at first (the time and money I put into it, and the pieces I enjoyed) but then I'd realize they were just stupid dolls and that I was too obsessed with the hobby to begin with.

New clean slate, less **** to worry about.

I can relate to that. I mean, a severe crisis like the one we're having right now here where I live will do that to you, but even if the global economy were fine and dandy I think I'd still feel burnt out.

Kinda makes you think... about getting a matchbox.

The fire would offer a clean slate, i wouldn't have to worry about selling the stuff i don't want but i would use the insurance money to get better stuff. :)

1. My dog
2. One of a kind artwork and family heirlooms

If there is still time after that, then there are a couple collectibles I would grab.

Yeah I'd take advantage of the clean slate and stop collecting altogether. There would just seem no point in buying anything new after having lost everything else.

All my photos are on the laptops so I guess I'd be saving those and logging in here to tell my collecting buddies that I'm over and out.

But when looking at the photos your bound to get that 1/6 ich again...No?

If there was anything that could make me just stop coming back here where I would see the new stuff in the first place it would be the total destruction of my entire collection.

Having said that 'if there was anything that could' doesn't mean definitely. And yes I couldn't rule out that looking at pics of new stuff would tempt me.

But it just wouldn't feel the same. Having new stuff would keep reminding me of the cool stuff I'd lost and the overwhelming chore, time and expense of trying to replace it all if wanted to get back into the hobby and feel the same satisfaction as before.

There are certain threads I see on this site that make me stop and think .....yeah, I'm not like many of the people here

lulz

No kidding. Good grief. Photo backups are in a fireproof gun safe, along with vital documents, financial records, and most of my weapons. Grab the kids, the wife, maybe the bug-out bag, and move.

Let the toys burn. I bought 'em once. I can buy 'em again.

What's your address? I'd be more than happy to burn your house down.

You can thank me later.

We have converted all of our pictures, including vintage ones, to digital and have them safely tucked away. So I would grab those discs and then go after my collection. :wave
