I have a 3 year old computer or so, in other words, its 187 years old in computer years.......often suffers from slight slowdown, though I keep up on adware, virus, etc

Decided to take it apart and really clean all the components - video card, memory, motherboard....really got inside the box, and BAM! Computer is running great again....amazing what dust will do to a system

And here I just thought it was due to age or fact I use IE, LOL

I assume you know somewhat heavy dust creates a static field and extra heat? Sky Digital hates any dust. Plays havoc with the channels/picture quality.

Every few months. Never a build up. Ever.

Is there a write up or process a pc nub can follow easily? Not really savvy with computers but I do want to clean my laptop up.

I just washed mine in the sink with dish washing soap and hot water. works like a charm.

Use the microwave to dry it afterwards. It'll take forever to air dry.

In all seriousness, thanks for the tip. My mom's computer runs extremely slow so I'll pass it on to her.

Just make sure you uplug your computer before you use dusting spray and let it dry out completely before plugging it back in!

I think our pc is about 4 or 5 years old, which of course means it's a dinosaur. I usually do clean it out but have been neglecting it for a while. Guess I know what I'll be up to today.

Off to unplug it and get it ready for a bath. Dawn dish detergent should do the trick. Hey, it's even safe for animals!!

We had a huge rainstorm one night and when I got to work the next day, there was a leak right over my desk. My , then brand new , 23" mac cinema display had at least an inch of water inside of it. It had gotten through the vents in the back. The key board was totally immersed. I just flipped the monitor over , let the water out and dried the keyboard. I'm actually using the keyboard and monitor right now! That was 8 years ago!
