After watching CBcollects' video on him applying mirror tint to his Detolf, I wanted to do the same. But my Detolfs were already assembled and i didnt want to go through all the trouble dissassembling and etc. I found a Ikea Stave mirror that is a nice alternative. A bit pricey at $40 each but worth it imo. Its 16 x 63 and can sit on the lower bottom wood edge of the Detolf board. I secured it with a bracket and screws at the top.
As you can see, my Detolfs sits on a fireplace area and the brick and empty space were visible. I used a cardboard piece to try and cover the empty space incase chimmney dust comes out. The only drawback I would say is that the Ikea mirror is behind another layer of glass so the mirror clarity is not as sharp as if it were inside the Detolf. Again, this is a good setup if you have something visible behind the Detolf or want a mirror background.
