Also, for a character as colorful as Ashe, I don't understand the kind of blank stare, like he's modeling. Of all the amazing expressions he makes during the films.View attachment 174355

Non-neutral expressions can be a harder sell and don't always look good with all posing options. Neutral expressions are like jeans, they go with everything. Colorful expressions are more divisive to collectors and manufacturers are going to want to minimize divisiveness to sell the most figures. Hot Toys' General Zod comes to mind. I heard a number of people question the bared teeth expression on that figure with some suggesting they'd pass on it because of that sculpt.

That said, it would be nice to have options. I'd like to see manufacturers sell stand-alone heads with alternative expressions to the ones packed with their figures. Although, doing that may be disallowed by licensing and may increase the likelihood of recasting, so we'll probably never see it. Alternatively, they could simply include another head with another popular expression. Star Ace is doing it right with Lord Voldemort by offering two heads.

And there are always customizers who can pick up the slack, but that can be less than ideal (matching quality, skin tone, etc.).

This is Ash, at least to me. Obviously out of my price-range since it's a full custom.

Beto's Ash is the BEST Ash and likeness hands down out there...there is NOTHING like it to date....his version 1 is still his best version

Beto does great work. Now, I know I'm the only guy on the forums that thinks this, but to me, neither of his Ash head sculpts are as great as everyone has elevated them to be. The new one in particular looks like Ash's older brother, Lenny. The rest of the figure, and the accessories, are all superb.

deluxe doesnt have chainsaw hand.

This has to be wrong.

So to get everything, you have to buy the Normal and Deluxe versions?? What's the point of a a deluxe version? A Deluxe should have everything from the standard version plus extras.

Beto does amazing work, but I wasn't blown away by his Ash sculpts, either. I think the more recent one is better than the older one, though. Caine is another guy who made a really great Ash sculpt.

But What can you compare Beto's Ash to that's out there? Beto's Ash is like owning an official Hot Toys Ash....and in person,the likeness is the best I've seen in 1/6 scale....

I had the first one in-hand (not sure if it was painted by Beto, but it was a top notch paint job). I've also had the Caine, Rocco, and SSC sculpts, and I don't feel Beto's was at the top of the list. But yeah, in terms of entire Ash figures that were sold, his couldn't be beat.

Beto's paint job was just as good (if not better to some degree) than Hot Toys

I just get the feeling that if that was Hot Toys Ash, people would be up in arms saying it's not good enough. And just because there may or may not be anything to compare it to, shouldn't be a factor in determining how good the sculpt is on it's own merits.

For all the Ash heads out there, they all have their pros and cons

I would just add the chainsaw to the Deluxe version as well...I'll probably pick up both sets either way

Of the 3 you name the Beto looks best. Depending on which one you mean that is, he has done 4(?) sculpt by now? I own the Evil Dead 2 one and the likeness and extreme expression is great. It lacks the realism his later sculpts had though..

No, actually I think we agree after all. It's the feel I don't get with the Iminime sculpt. And the S-Mart sculpt is indeed very good if not oversized. It has the same problem my Beto sculpt has though, in that the new sculpts these days have far better skin texture and what-not, making it look dated. I agree Iminime is great quality, but it doesn't get the feel right.

Yeah the delxue should include chainsaw as he actually uses it

Yah that's what Iminime was saying, but he mentioned the Chainsaw had to either be smaller or larger, or something to that effect.

Regardless. I sent him telling him fans were wanting the chainsaw with the deluxe package, let's hope it's considered
