I've never seen Training Day. I was going to rent Take Shelter tonight, but it appears that I have another one to add to my list.:lol

Give it a whirl bro! ASAP! It may not be for everyone's taste but I always held it in high regard

He only got the Oscar because they shunned him the year before, honestly Russel Crowe was robbed for the Oscar that year, i thought Training Day was great just didn't feel it was Oscar worthy.

Definitely true. Unfortunately the Academy Awards can work that way sometimes. Like one day Johnny Depp will end up winning one that will make zero sense but it will be because he's been robbed his whole career

Totally true, wish there was a better system. Denzel's performances in American Gangster, the Hurricane, Glory, Malcolm X and Philedelphia are some of his strongest, but still very much enjoyed Training Day.

The GBU trio have very unique looks and bring interest to a collection. The GF trio is another men in suits release and would have a much more difficult time of selling than Pulp Fiction IMO (and that has even been slower moving than expected). Denzel is a great actor and Training Day was good, just not iconic enough for my collection.

I was thinking of the trio, and, on the subject of Bandito Tuco, would something like Rocco's Walter be possible? I'm assuming the consensus would be in favor of a neckless sculpt, to maximize poseability, but, perhaps they could sculpt an "adapter" of sorts that could clip onto the body, giving him his "full figure" while keeping him from having ugly joints or a massive downgrade in articulation.

I'm not a huge fan of training day, and love Goodfellas but I can see an appeal to Denzel's character as a figure over those others. He looks interesting, distinctive, and bad ***. Goodfellas are just more guys in suits, even though they are from the superior film.

I don't see why so many are referring to Goodfellas as guys in suits. More of the movie was spent wearing casual clothing, bowling type shirts, etc.

Well, I finally watched Once Upon a Time in the West. Really good movie, you can definitely tell it is a Leone film. The characters are great, very well defined and charismatic. GBU is still tops, but this was definitely a must see.

I love suits. Why wouldn't I like guys in suits figures? The fact that the movie is one of he greatest of all time and the actors are among the greatest of all time helps a little too.

Yeah, his style is very clearly on display there.

Maybe not to you, but in general, collectors don't seem to be as into guys in suits as they are for more interesting looking toys. I personally am more open to suits when we're talkingbgenuine icons of cinema like Brando's Corleone, Bogart's Blaine or Spade, Nicholson's Gittes. Unfortunately this forum doesn't seem to feel the same way, because, I think, of the general aversion to suits. Iminime wanted to do a Bogart a couple years ago and there just wasn't much interest. Not many more important screen icons than that guy.

Soooo, let's see what kind of possibilities there are for T G, T B, & T U?
One thing I'm surprised no one's mentioned, yet: Tuco as Bill Carson

I really wish we would get an influx of interest for those Goodfellas figures... that would been a fantastic set.

Vince actually flew off of the shelf in near record time. Jules is having a harder time possibly because of people being a little underwhelmed with Vince in hand and Jules' proto isn't causing hysteria. That's all another story.

You have to remember that the board takes all kinds. Just because a movie or character isn't your personal taste doesn't mean that there isn't a large following out there. While there are a lot of characters that will appeal to the large majority, not everyone shares the same wish list. I'm sure there are several other characters that would get 50+ interested and would leave other people saying, "people actually want this?".

Different strokes....

I agree. The majority of that list wants them in casual clothes. But what difference does it make anyway? If you're a fan of the movie and character then you probably want figures from that title.

IDK how everyone collects but I want a 1/6 representation of all my favorite characters from my favorite movies. I have my personal criteria that the movie and character has to have for me to want a figure. I love Pulp Fiction and Resevior Dogs. They are guys in plain black suits; thats all. There's no way to pretend that they were something else. That's what the character was. So if a Resevior Dog set ever comes around then I'm gonna end up with a lot of dudes in black suits in my collection :lol.

To me it's more about the connection to the subject matter than what pops on a shelf. But everyone has their own method of collecting.

That said I'd love a proper set of Goodfellas. One of my fave movies and I need them represented in my collection

I agree. Any movie with the staying power of a Goodfellas, and three charismatic actors that you will always remember, certainly deserves to be made. Whatever clothing they are presented in, count me in!

It used to be that every once in a while I'd stop in the first page of this thread to ogle all of the amazing pictures, but, now, I have to go through multiple pages due to the wonder that is FamCon.:lol

Over 3/4 pages of everything but the figure and even the character or the film...
