Awesome. How was he in person?

After recently rewatching the saga, my ranking might be a little different, now:

TOD
ROTLA
KOTCS
TLC

I still love TLC though, and have grown to enjoy KOTCS a lot more than on my initial viewing. I find I rotate between TLC and KOTCS for which one I like better, kind of depends on my mood at the time I watch either, I suppose. I think all four are great, though.

I think something that detracts from TOD (besides Willie and her comic antics) was the super duper happy ending. Especially coming off the brilliant and iconic Raiders ending, TOD should have had a slightly different ending.

Imagine if after all the celebration in the village, you cut to the Temple mines, where some of the leftover guards are excitedly yelling and calling for the Maharaja. They found another Sankara stone! And as the Maharaja holds it and looks at it, have the camera tight on his face as his eyes widen and smiles largely, but with a hint of evil. Is he still under the black sleep of Kali? Has the stone affected or possessed him? Cut to credits.

TOD and the other two, needed that little bit of ambiguity in the end that made Raiders feel like a bigger, more epic film. It made Raiders feel like the story was more than just Indy. It's like it made the Ark a whole other character, especially with scenes like when the swastika burns off the crate, and the end in the warehouse.

Wow Shorty still looks the same, he should be in Indy 5 as a kick ass martial artist, if it ever happens.

No kidding. Why did they invent Mutt when Short Round would have been a much better supporting character? You could re-define SR almost without limitation, we know very little about him.

Marion lived in Nepal. Perhaps SR's family knew the Ravenwoods. There's a million ways to write it to be plausable.

Short Round for Indy 5. :lecture

As a kid i remember and love them all, but somthing about Doom always sticks out for me, especially in the end. It just got me excited for Indy ya know?

I know exactly what you mean. The shot of Indy appearing in the shadows before he punches the Thuggee guard and frees the slave children, with the Slave Children's Crusade theme blaring. Never fails to give me chills and get my adrenaline pulsing.

While on the subject, what would be everyone's favorite shot of Indy in the series? This one would be it for me, for the reasons already stated.

Heck yeah. Shorty's one of my favorite characters of the series besides Indy, that'd be awesome seeing him back.

Watching the series again recently for the umpteenth time, this is probably about my final ranking:

TOD
ROTLA
KOTCS
TLC

I love them all though, even though TLC has slid to last place for me it's still awesome.

1. Raiders
2. Last Crusade-Almost as good as Raiders, IMO
3. Temple of Doom - Great opening sequence and short round was an awesome addition.
4. KOTCS - A lot of controversy here but I still liked it.

I sometimes feel alone in liking him. He's my second favorite character of the series right behind Indy, and after that would probably be Marion and Henry, Sr.

1.Raiders
2.Temple of Doom
3.Last Crusade
4.Select episodes of Young Indiana Jones
5.fifty pounds of crap
6.Crystal Skull

I missed a lot of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles back when it first aired. I remember them being hit and miss, and a few too many historical figures making cameos. But there were also some really good episodes that would rank before Crystal Skull.

They re-edited them for the DVD collections a few years ago, took out old man Indy, made lots of other changes. I haven't picked them up on video. Any reactions? Is this one I should wait for eventual Blurays?

I have a hard time watching any of the "Indiana Jones" movies. They all have serious problems.. IJ & ToD - Kate is horrible and brings the movie so far down. IJ & TLC - the first 45min is terrible story telling. IJ & TKotCS - a swing and a miss!

But I do LOVE "Raiders of the Lost Ark". It's one of the greats as far as any film is concerned. It's only deminished when people try and compare the "IJ & what ever film" to raiders. Because there is no comparison! Stop playing this game. It's like saying "JAWS 3D" is better than "JAWS". Really?! Is it really? Is LC really better than RAIDERS?!?!! GTFOOH!

You could read this entire thread and I'm sure without exception Raiders is #1 on everyone's list.

That wouldn't be much of a discussion though. So the question is what do you think of the rest of them?

I hated - HATED - Temple of Doom for over twenty years after seeing it the first time. In recent years it's played on cable TV and I watched it without any expectations, not trying to compare it to Raiders. I've decided it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than I remembered.

I agree, Kate is a terrible actress. But she married Steven Spielberg right after that movie, so do the math. If you can get past her lack of ability to do anything besides scream "Indyyyyyyyyyy" this movie is a diamond in the rough.

Ford looks like he's really having fun in this movie and hadn't begun the wooden, phone it in performances he's now known for. ILM was at the top of it's classic craft. There's not a frame of computer animation anywhere in this film. This movie actually can be somewhat disturbing and twisted and it's not just a by the numbers thrill ride. There's lot's of cornball stuff, but it's also a more honest Indiana Jones movie than 3 and 4.

Actually if you look a few posts above you'll see lists with TOD and TLC at the top.

TLC is my No.1 cos I love the humor and interplay between Ford and Connery, without losing any of the drama or action.
