You're absolutely right. I think because maybe these customizers are painting the suit on the figure body with an airbrush, there killing all the chrome effect underneath, so they try to make up for it with shading. Or, in Hot Toys case, the suit isn’t transparent enough so shading is used to enhance the effect. Either way, it’s not ideal. The repaint above is perfect. Not sure how they did it though. The paint from an airbrush is atomized to such small particles it would easily pass through this semi shear suit and land on the chrome below. So they must have use something between the suit and body to keep it from bleeding through, or painted the suit independent of the body.
