Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Yeah Willie's a screamer. :lol

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

If they don't make a Ceremonial Willie (shame on you haters :pfft:) then I probably won't see any need to pick up a 1:6 scale mine cart. She spent more time in the cart than anyone!

I'd be highly peeved if we see a Willie before a Marion. I found Capshaw's screaming and incessant whining more annoying than Allen's Cheshire Cat impression in KOTCS.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

i never found willie annoying, but i think i was in such awe the first time i saw temple of doom and the opening sequence i just accepted everything, i guess i was just at the right age. unfortunatley the same didnt apply to kotcs!

id be happy to see anything at this stage (or hear anything at this stage) regarding 1/6 indy from sideshow

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Just had a thought about the mine cart: Sideshow has only included these environment pieces with figures, not as standalone pieces. So that must mean that they're going to pair it with someone.

There are three likely suspects: Shorty, Mola and TOD Indy. I don't think Willie is in development since they seemed to have "paused" on all women characters across all the lines. Shorty and Mola seem the most likely because the environments are only packaged to help sell a less desirable figure like Belloq and Toht. Also something that makes Mola even more likely since they seem to package the environments with the villains. The only exception has been for KOTCS Indy and the fridge, which would be reason to expect the mine cart to go with TOD Indy.

Of course this is all speculative and Mola and TOD Indy both depend on a better muscle body to be developed or borrowed from HT. Shorty is the most immediate candidate because he would use the hobbit body.

Regardless, this is all a pipe dream anyway. And if it does happen, it won't be for a good while.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Next year is Raiders 30th Anniversary, and, from the sounds of it, some form of Indy movie should be going into pre-production in the March/April time frame. With these two events, the timing would be right for Sideshow to start up again with new 1/6th figures.

Having said all of that, Sideshow has done a great job with the recent (and upcoming) releases: The Mola Ram PF looks stunning, and, from what I can see in the photos, the 1/4 Ark looks impressive as well.

I could see them packaging it with Short Round so that they can sell him. I can see Mola Ram easily selling by itself. The problem though is that if the did the mine cart with Shorty before a ToD Indy that would be pretty lame, so maybe they will release those two at the same time. Of course that is IF this is all to happen.

Which is what is so weird with them announcing they're developing a mine cart environment. Maybe they've realized the environment + less desirable fig didn't have the sales impact they'd theorized it would, Belloq and Toht are still available. So, maybe they are going to release it separately. Hardly anyone would buy a mine cart and/or Shorty without a ToD Indy being released. Sideshow HAS to know that, so by announcing this, they might as well be announcing a ToD Indy.

I'm focusing on them saying "developing" and not "producing". . . they could just as easily say in six months from now. "We developed a prototype, but there was just not high enough sales figures to justify production". . . same line they've used time and time again.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I would only be interested in the mine cart if a figure is sold with it. A stand alone mine cart should be less than $75.00 but SS will probably price it at $175.00.
I happen to agree with "Irish". Developing and producing are two different things. I wish that I could be more optimistic but the 1/6 Indy line is not selling well for SS. You can get all of the figures for less than retail on the secondary market. The possible exception being the Henry Sr Ex.
SS is about to lose me anyway. Moving on to TOD figures without doing Marion and Sallah is pretty close to a crime for me. They might get me if they make a 2 pack of TOD Indy and Shorty. Willie before Marion and I'm finished with SS.

Is Sallah even popular enough to keep this line going? If the main villains of Raiders didn't sell well what hope does a supporting character have? He flops and thats it for the Indy line.

Maybe its not a bad idea to start with TOD. There's bound to be more demand for a new version of Indy and Mola Ram is one of the more unique looking characters in the series. Starting with them will likely keep enough interest in the line to keep going onto the supporting characters.

Sallah is not popular (or easily recognizable) enough to jump start this line-- A TOD Indy along with a Mola Ram is what's required. If announced at the same time that a Short Round (exclusive with a mine cart) is shown then watch this line take off once more. They've tackled ROTLA-- and yes Sallah and Marion are missing, but now is not the time to see them. Bring on TOD and then maybe if sales are great we can see some more TLC and KOTCS love.

I would argue that Sallah would sell better than the non-adventure Belloq did. Especially since we have the Ark (Sideshow's and/or Hasbro's).

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I think a regular thuggie would be good because it falls in line with the troop building genre of figures.. ( like the SW stormtrooper)... many collectors would buy multiples to display alongside mola or fighting Indy... plus you could include multiple weapons... dagger, sword, and rifle....

A regular thuggie would be a good choice but I think that another strong choice (besides the solid army builder theory) would be a Pat Roach character (preferably his thuggie THUG over the bald german mechanic).

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Unless they suddenly and unexpectedly develop a convincing muscle body (with Hot Toys help) we would be unlikely to see a Pat Roach Giant Thuggee. They are most likely to develop some kind of musculature bodies for TOD Indy and Mola Ram (likely both would probably use the same base body) but would have to develop one specifically for the Giant Thuggee so considering it will have a small edition size and probably not a big seller (no pun intended) it wouldn't be cost effective unless they planned to recycle it for the German Mechanic.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I can't argue with any of the points made above but Sallah is Indy's sidekick in 2 of the movies and I'm partial to Raiders. Marion is a must have too. We just won't see it. SS has never even hinted that Marion will be made.

I only have room for so many PF's so I'd like to see SS jumpstart the 1/6th line again. More bang for the buck.
I wish that I could say that I would boycott SS but the Indy freak in me probably won't allow it. I'll b***h and moan and then buy the figures anyway even screeching Willie.

I wouldn't rule out Marion just yet. Sideshow's mentioned in their Q&A that female characters are on hold until they developed a new 1/6 body. As long as there's still plenty of interest in the Indy line I think she has a chance. :)
