I could be wrong so if anyone wants to correct me please feel free to.
She originally claimed that Depp physically abused her showing pics of her bruises online etc specifically during the #MeToo Movement as well as another female empowerment movement to get ppl behind her and support her to hide her real intentions (to get money out of him) all the while nearly defaming and ruining Depp's reputation and career. Depp has been one of the wealthiest actors, though sources say he's spent a lot of that wealth recently as a crutch for all that has been going on. As a life-long Depp fan myself, this is something I couldn't believe as he's usually the one who has gotten his heart broken when it comes to relationships plus the fact that he always appeared to be a kind, peaceful and generous person. However, I think sometime this year a recording(s) came out of her admitting that she was the one who actually abused him and the bruises in her pics were fake. So, he's suing her and the tabloid/magazine that let it rip on him and his reputation calling him a wife-beater etc.
I think this is for the most, part a sum of what happened. Anyone, else can feel free to chime in if they want to correct/add to it.
I think this is where a lot of ppl stand honestly. I, too, liked her in Aquaman as Mera. I think she is excellent casting for that role and many have mentioned it is quite possibly her best acting to date. But, I can't see her getting many other roles for awhile aside from DC right now. She's going to have just as hard a time if nor more as Depp has getting more work aside from being part of a franchise (Fantastic Beasts for Depp) b/c of what she did and what is has now consequently done to both their careers.
