I would tend to believe that the armor seen is an early model and will progress through the movie to what we see today. Medicom should make an Ironman figure ala Full Metal Al.

I love that we'll get an Origin Armor piece because it spells Origin Iron Man Comiquette in my future....:rock

No, not exactly. The comic version had at least a bit of style to it, and didn't look like it was welded together from a scrap heap. But that seems to be the big thing in Hollywood now when telling a superhero origin story. First attempts from our heroes at creating costumes, weaponry and "accessories" can't have any style, and they need to break down a lot.

I Think the fact that it's pieced together from smaller bits makes it a little more realistic for the film and makes it look better in a weird sort of way! I imagine that they didn't draw it that way for the comics because it would've been a pain to draw for every frame. Imagine the fun John Byrne must've had drawing The Thing everytime! :lol

You need to reread the origin of Iron Man.

Don't forget this is the VERY FIRST armor that he builds while in captivity to escape. It is supposed to look crude and thrown together from scraps because it is. He doesn't have the luxury of time or privacy to refine the armor. I think even the gray comic armor pictured was a refined version of the one he created to escape the Vietnamese (in the comics).

This armor is much cooler than the comic book armor. With X2 and the Spidey movies and Batman Begins to a certain extent, they're improving the comics when translating to film. Hopefully Iron Man will continue this tradition.

true. Lets all try and forget the comic book "films" that were attempted in the 1980's with bad costumes and unknown actors.....most notibly the JLA film....:slap
