I would've put that money towards the IA battle damaged version. I think they do Iron man better than anyone.

if you are talking about Imaginarium then i will have to disagree. i don't like their version of this armor. the pose is very stiff and dull. the paint application looks really great, maybe even better than this statue but the pose and attitude of this piece make it my personal preference, by a long shot even.

although i do have to say that the Hulkbuster that they are doing is quite possibly the greatest iron man statue ever made. too bad i have neither the space nor the cash to own it. :thud:

I have to agree, i think the latest IA 1/4 Scale Iron Man MK43 is terrible. The paint application may be okay but the whole piece is let down by its weird posing of the left leg...i mean, WTF?! :dunno Its just so un-natural and doesnt work with either of the two poses that you can use for it...very disappointing. The Iron Studios version totally blows the IA one away! However, i have to say that even the Iron Studios version will soon be knocked off its perch as the best 1/4 scale MK43 collectible once Hot Toys release their version...i've said it countless times and i might be putting my neck on the line, but i seriously think that the Hot Toys 1/4 Scale MK43 will be the best Iron Man collectible released to date! :horror :thud:

I'm getting the IA 1/4 BD and HT 1/4. So I'll have all three to compare.

This is the pose that sold me on the IA

i've been thinking about getting one of their live sized busts. where do you from them? i can't seem to find a sell page on their site....

Wow that's nice but for me it's xm mark 7 it's my favourite suite and has the best pose EVER and iron studios becouse of the pose and the base is great. With xm and iron studio iron man you will need lots more space than you would for hot toys 1/4 or imaginarium 1/4 suite

What bothers me the most about Hot Toys (actually, all poseable figures) is the visible blank space between joints. In order to have some degree of articulation, you would need that "clearance" to mobilize that particular joint.

Now, with this HT figure, it seems they have done a great job because it has very minimal joint space, but it will probably come at the cost of having flexible parts to bend and conform into different positions. On earlier HT figures, these flexible parts were the first to discolor or fade with time. I'm not sure whether that issue has been improved as I haven't purchased a HT figure in about 2-3 years now.

With the two pics posted above, take a look just slightly above the right hip. You'll notice that flexible piece I'm describing. It got tucked underneath the thigh armor in the bottom pic. Oops! :)

Here is an example of that joint space that is a real eye sore for me. Notice the space at the left knee. Also, that armored knee-cap piece is not suppose to be sticking up like that either, but it is inherent in a poseable figure. Eww!

I guess the obvious solution is to, well, not pose the figure with that much of a bend in the knee. :lol

i hope that the attention iron man it getting right now continues. i really like the MK 43 but i would like to see some of the earlier suits in 1/4th scale as well. my personal choice would be the MK 5 suitcase armor. i loved that one in the movie and it really stands out as distinctly different than the others with the red and silver as apposed to the red and gold that all the other main suits have.

Iron Man has always had a lot of attention. Collectors' of other franchises will be the first to tell you how tired they are of seeing Mark after Mark being released every year. :lol

Agreed! I love the Mk.V! That in 1/4 and with the correct shade of silver, unlike what Hot Toys used (geez I'm sounding like a real HT hater here. LOL!) would be awesome! (I do have the 1/6 Hot Toys Mk.V, by the way, if anyone is interested in buying :wave).

I hope IA or Iron Studios produces the original seven suits of armor... and he'll yes I'd be down for a 1/4 scale Mark 5.

i would be tempted with any of the original 7 as well. however the MK2 and MK 5 would be by personal picks, as both are not the standard red and gold. i think that the sideshow MK 2 is ok but i have little to no faith that they can pull off a good paint job for that level of detail on either of those.

a little off topic but i really hope that the next iron man suit in civil war will be a new color scheme all together. perhaps red and black for a change. i saw some concept art a while back of a bleeding edge armor with those colors and it looked amazing.

Red and black I always thought them colours would look SIKKKKKK

I 100% agree with you. I was really really REAAAALLY into the IM HT figures when they first came out. After trying to take a ton of super believable shots, the joints became more and more of a glaring and visual distraction for me. The poseability is nice, but at the expense of continuity in the visual effect. The hips/crotch area have always been the worst, even as they've transitioned from the pink rubber panties to the flip up flaps. I've waned myself off of IM HT the past 6 months or so mainly because of so. I really wanted to do the 1/4 MK43 from HT, but the pics with the knee joint and the hips really pushed me away. The light up features are also nice, but flipping four switches then posing them back to how it was is also a nuisance. They look great museum posed, but then why not just get a solid statue? The Iron Studios MK43 is my favorite in my collection as of now. The XM coming out next month, even without the light ups, will be interesting to see which one I will decide to box back up. Hopefully these two will tide my Iron Man craze.

The joints arent that bad. If you put them in some insane pose then yeah, youre pushing the posability quite a bit, but otherwise they can look fine in less than extreme poses.

I too prefer statues though, but more from a proportions angle.

Yeah, I hear ya. For the longest time, I wanted to be able to pose any of the HT IM suites to mimic the MKVI maquette with no luck. Even recently with the MKIII Diecast, it comes with a 3 point landing pose torso. I still coudn't get it look authentic. I still buy the IM HT's but not like I used to. Hopefully, my last one is the MKIII Stealth. So every suit is just museum pose for me now.

Looks like the Bay is down about 3 of these left. They had 12 or so a couple of weeks ago.

once those sell this piece is going to be incredibly hard to get. it's has a very low edition size and the high quality of the piece means that few collectors will part with it. i'm not letting mine go anytime soon!

Same here. I'm hanging on to mine for a while. Love everything about it.
