Is anyone else just kind of "over" Hot Toys or Not?

Hey Everyone,

Just as the title reads. Has anyone just lost interest in HT lately...they just seem..blah to me nowadays. Maybe its' the prices. But I used to own 15-20 of the best HT figs. DX01, 02, 03, 04. TDK, Iron Man, Predator, etc. I recently sold them all off and don't regret it one second. 2 examples recently were, I bought an HT Thor...and sold it the next day, it just looked like a toy..and the recent HT Batman Begin/Wayne debacle at Sideshow. So much hype for what...a headsculpt and a mediocre figure that I already owned and sold. I almost bought into it though, but then I realized, I used to own the OC Bats and wasn't impressed.

Don't get me wrong though...HT does some amazing work. The DX Bespin Luke and The new 89 Bats and Joker, 100% awesome. Will probably bite on 1 or 2 of those(Luke for sure). But , I don't know I really think its the new price trend. When I look at the things I own like the MR Falcon, Sideshow 1:1 C-3PO Bust and the upcoming EFX Vader Legend they have such a commanding presence. They feel worth it.

Who knows maybe I just needed to rant on about it a bit. Anyone else out there feel the same way. Thanks for listening

Don't get me wrong though...HT does some amazing work. The DX Bespin Luke and The new 89 Bats and Joker, 100% awesome.

Yeah, today's probably not the best day to get a lot of agreement here, since 2 of the greatest looking HT figures ever were released for pre-sale. But, I hear you. They are getting pretty ridiculously expensive.

That Thor figure always looked awful to me, and your not "over hot toys" if your looking at 89 bat's and joker and thinking about buying them

..but i agree the prices are going crazy!

I think they are going to price themselves out of the market pretty soon for a lot of collectors. They are reaching PF prices which is pretty crazy.

yeah not the best day to get "l dont really care for Hot Toys as much as l use too" type comments, but l agree. l use to have some Hot Toys preds and they were great, but not a big fan of very expensive 12 inch figures, they seem to be getting close to PF type prices. l moved to SS PFs which are way better then Hot Toys l think. They are huge, full of massive awesome that l dont think Hot Toys has, plus PFs don't get loose over time or start to break down like Hot Toys rubber.

The HT Batman they just showed looks insane, but l am not sure if l want to drop that kind of money on him if the rubber will break in a year. That figure re sparked my interest in HT, but we will see what happens. Great thing about PFs is they dont have HT problems.

prices are really skyrocketing but im still getting 89 bats and joker, and hopefully the batmobile, then i'll TRY and cut down not quit.

We are to blame. Look at every product thread here. People nitpick items to death about accuracty issues they think they know.

The best of anything costs money.

You want it. It's going to cost you.

Those $50 Sideshow figures people used to bash the hell out of and compare to items 3 times their cost are looking like bagains today.

Oh for sure bro, they do look outrageously good.

I think the hype about a new figure and the "official specs and pics" hold more excitement for me now than the actual figure in hand does.

I agree that the Captain Jack Sparrow HT, and even the price tag of the new Joker HT set me aback. Inflation is a _____. But in all fairness... Hot Toys are just that, TOYS. Overpriced, maybe.. but they are only worth what someone is willing to buy them for. It appears there was a lot of demand for a Chrisitian Bale head. I never got the original so I dont know what I missed out on. The price point on some of them compared to full size statues is disgusting. Id rather go with polystone statues in most cases.

The Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson HT are PHENOMINAL though. I hope a Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny Devito HT are made eventually.

I try to stay to the $225 limit for 1/6. So yeah, I'm feeling the squeeze. I just said no to the Joker. For $65 more I can get that new Ultron PF.

100% agree I own a few SS Indy PF's. and they display great.

I still do love HT, I won't bash them, they are the hands down best at what they do.

I feel the same. I used to go crazy for them but honestly there are just too many figures being released and I cant keep up with all of them so I sold all of mine and only kept two or three and only plan on buying two or three more and im done. Im pretty sure ill be going back on that statement tho

I never said I was done with HT. Just that I am kind of over them. I will always buy the ones I feel are worth it.

I'm skipping Sucker Punch. I can't justify the price of the figs for a film of that quality.

There's a few figures I'd probably buy if they were released, I just hope for my sake they aren't too $$ (Black Widow from Avengers, Catwoman from TDKR, Emma Frost from X-Men First Class)

I never said I was done with HT. Just that I am kind of over them. I will always buy the ones I feel are worth it.

Your not really "over them" your just prioritizing your collection, i'm trying to do that myself ..first step for me is to get rid of all my Ironman figures!
