i recently off this site bought a loose Ht rambo 2 figure but its got a few ripped and tears in different areas. is there a way that you can maybe "patch up" the tears a bit? is there any kind of paint or puddy or something i can put in the cracks and tears to make it look better? i dont want to have to spend $100+ on a new body. so is there anything i can do to make it look a little better?

Nope, aside from replacing the body there is nothing that can be done unfortunately, that is why I'm staying away from the Rambo and Rocky figures for now, as much as I would love to own them, I can't have them tearing apart on me, it'll piss me off :/

you wasted money on something used might as well buy new body

Wouldn't hurt to try this: get an aerosol can of 3M Super77 spray adhesive, or any upholsterer's adhesive. Lowe's or Home Depot should have it. It's basically like very strong rubber cement, which means you apply it to both sides of the tear, let it dry, and then press the sides together. This stuff gets very sloppy when sprayed, so you'll want to mask the surface of the figure completely, so that only the exposed inner edges of the tear are visible. You might want to have some toothpicks handy to spread the adhesive while it's wet to get good cover, and not too thick. If you get adhesive on the surface of the body, it will take mineral spirits to get it off, and that's very bad news for paint...so be careful. After a minute or two to dry, close the tear.

i didnt waste my money. the original hot toys rambo figures are extremly hard to come by and to buy them complete and undamaged is like 300- 400 bucks and im sorry if i dont think a 12" figure that i plan on taking out and displaying is worth all that money. i actually just bought the rambo 2 from someone on this site for only $115 shipped and that was awsome price and is complete with everything je came with. the ONLY problem is the tearing in certain parts of the rubber muscle. you can see some pics right here:

is there a gel way of maybe glueing it together? do you think super glue or crazy glue instead of that other stuff? or do you think the spray adhesive would be stronger?

Oh crap that's bad. I think I spent about $225 for mines but it looks brand spankin new. The most I spent for a 1/6 figure. In your situation I'd just get a new body.

Yea that body is shot. I wouldn't have paid more than $50 or so.

yeah i would have paid that much too but since its still a hard to find figure there is no way i could find it for cheaper. and hey at least he came with all the stuff he originally came with so he was complete. just the rips and tears that kinda bug me. this rambo certainly has a "ripped" bod haha. but it could still have been worse, and honestly when i have it displayed alongside my other figs it doesnt look nearly as bad. its just passable. maybe one day ill lay down the cash for a new rambo 2 replacement body but for now im ok with this. it still looks awsome to me.

absolutly not.:cuckoo:

I am definitely no expert here, but i don't see why it would hurt to try superglue, the body is next to destroyed, if you can managed to get it to hold it's only a matter of time before other spots start tearing. I don't really think there is anything you can do besides try those methods and then if that doesn't work, buy a new body.

Sorry about your luck, :(

That sucks dude, but im not surprised, ive had 3 of this figure and all of them turned out the same way,the body ain't worth ____ i tell ya.Im afraid there is no way fixing a body that gets torn apart by just looking at it.

Paint the cuts red, say it's battle damaged and those are wounds.

NEXT!

Damn that is in a bad state don't think it can be fixed either as the rubber might just tear again once you seal it and try to repose.
I hope I'm wrong as I have quite a few rubber bodies on my rocky's and rambo's and would hate that to happen.
If your just going to keep in one pose and not move it you could use some super sculpey or putty to fill the gaps and repaint over it.

But the problem seems to rise from the rubber becoming to dryed out in hot enviroments so would keep it in the shade to avoid further damage.

Or you could dirty him up and cover the rips with mud/putty to give him a battle damaged look as said above.

Burn it:)

And that is pretty much inevitable w/ all rubber bodies, correct?

actually, painting it red and looking like battle damage is a great idea! i mean the spots where the rips are arent in spots that would look bad haveing some "real" cuts and scrapes. i will try that. i think its the elbow that is gonna be a bit hard. im also thinking maybe some "dirt" on him to give him that forest-y look. i dunno, i will see what i can do. good suggestion though. but i knew all these things about this figure before i bought it, but just really wanted a rambo figure really bad and this is the cheapest i could get it for. i would have gotten a new one but i just dont have the cash right now.

and personally im a fan of the first 2 sequels. rambo 4, or rambo...or "john rambo", whatever you prefer, wasnt bad and certainly had some great action but IMO it wasnt nearly as fun or awsome as the last 2. and first blood i never cared too much about. i guess i grew up with the OTT sequels then the original, and i love the action and explsions more. first blood was kinda depressing to say the least, poor rambo.

i also think hot toys should do rambo today with a newer body, like the modern versions like you see with barney ross and T800 arnold/dutch. none of that rubber body that cracks crap. but i guess thats all they had back then.
