Hey guys here's the info I got from speedtest.net

Is that sufficient speed to play ps3 online and have little problems in terms of lag? Also, do any of you use routers and how do those things work out? Yes I am a nooblet to the online play but help is appreciated:D

With 2 other people on my network using the internet.

I wonder why my upload speed is so slow tonight.

As long as you have a broadband connection, you're good to go :lol. My advise, is to just play online and see if there's any lag or abnormalities. But, I don't think that you should have a problem.

You should not have a problem with playing online, but you might encounter a few hiccups here and there in games with poor netcoding. In those cases your connection isn't really at fault but it's hurt by poor coding on the game developer's part.

Just try it out and see how you do online.

It's funny how quickly this thread derailed into people pulling out their measuring sticks. :lol

I have family that also use sympatico and play online with no real issues. The speed is about the same if not slower on their end. You may encounter some slow down in really large games.

aight thanks guys, the little bastich at sympatico told me I need at least 7 mbps to play playstation 3 online and that my 2 mbps is not good enough, but I immediately questioned his statement because ya' know, the poor guy wanted to sell me faster and more expensive service:D... Hopefully it works, gotta play some re 5 online!!!

Although I do agree that Comcast is slightly overpriced for the service they provide (in regards to both internet and cable), they've fulfilled what I expected them to in terms of good speed and few drop outs. I would love FIOS service. I think there's a node down the street from my house. Not sure though.

Holy crap, that dude was feeding you a ton of lies. Unless you have multiple devices with heavy network operations running at all times, then 1.5 down and 768k up should be more than sufficient.

That's what I thought, thanks for the reassurance dude!
