Is the 1/6 Scale ANH Leia Preview image photoshopped?

The preview image has Leia's eyes looking out of the left corners, so I'm wondering if someone at Sideshow could let us know if that was photoshopped to fit with the pose for this image or if that's how they're painted for the prototype but the production piece will have the standard looking straight out look?

She's going to look sideways, that's a given. Hope it's bearable, too...

It does look nice on the PF, her sideways glance.

I'd prefer not to repaint, and I think there are some amazing customizers on these boards, but none of the 1/6 eye repaints I have seen have looked as good as SSC factory to me.

I think you have a legit point.

painting the eyes to the side of a PF is not as bad cause its in a fixed position, but the whole point of the 1/6 scale is the articulation and posability. The eyes looking anything other than straight ahead would bother me as well.

Glad I'm not alone I just remember when I had the Scarface 1/6 and his eyes were done looking to one side, and it worked good to pose him in the classic poster image (I mentioned this in another thread, sorry for being redundant), but it was pretty much limited to that and I just like having options and the neutral, looking straight out eyes work fine with any pose I think.

I have to disagree. Having the irises painted dead center is just as limiting, since any way you position the head, it's still staring straight ahead like a deer in the headlights. I think aiming for a neutral gaze just results in a mannequin's expression. For me, centering the eyes perfectly robs the figure of life. Of course, I don't mind repainting...in fact, I don't think you could stop me...so if they change it and that pleases those who don't want to repaint, I'm fine with that.

I believe I saw a Bruce Lee like that. and done VERY well at that.


be cool if they could make sockets with movable eyeballs
put a hole in the center pupil you could stick a small pin in to reposition

Triad has sold four replacement heads with outfits -- no bodies -- that feature a patented system for moveable eyes. I have one:

The eyes are held in place by a spring inside the head. The pupils are actually tiny indentations. You can put a pointed instrument (or a paper clip) into the pupil, push the eye back, position it as you like, and release. The spring holds it in place. The eyes operate independently of one another; you can make the figure cross-eyed if you're feeling silly.

The first Enterbay Bruce Lee figure had detachable hair and within the head a plug for one of the two pieces with different sets of eyes: one set looked straight ahead, the other looked to the side and could be flipped over so the figure could look either direction.

They have announced that the second Bruce Lee figure will have an improved eye system that does not require you to remove the hair. We'll see if they're headed for a collision with Triad's patent. Both companies' products are at a higher price point than Sideshow's, however. Triad head + costume combos are $89 - $99 without a body. Enterbay's second Bruce Lee will drop fifty bucks to...$250.

Ive seen that before, but I thought it just came with multiple sets of eyes to plug in. Didnt realize you could reposition them. guess I need to actually read more
