Is this the best Indy figure?

Those are prototype pictures. The headsculpt on the production figure isn't painted anywhere near that nice. In fact, the paint is quite terrible. Also, be warned that the body will be very loose, like a ragdoll. Most people swapped it out with a true type or soldier story body.

In my opinion, it is the best Indy figure out there. But it's not without its faults. Most people felt the base body was too loose and a little squat. His face paint apps also left a lot to be desired. Some have pointed out certain inaccuracies with the costume, from the color of the web belt to the buttons on the shirt.

Most people here have opted to swap out the body for a Narrow Shoulders True Type body and to repaint the face. Some have also purchased custom jackets and belts and other various parts of the costume.

Personally, I am very very happy with the figure. The only mod I did was to repaint the face--and I only did the bare minimum to get it to look 100 times better (just fixed the eyes and stubble, left the base color of the face the same). Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with the clothes and the body (nothing a little futzing couldn't fix). The accessories are great and I feel like I've gotten the Indy figure I've wanted for almost 30 years!

The PF is without a doubt the best non-poseable representation of Indiana Jones produced to date. If you want something poseable, then the Sideshow 1:6 version is your best bet.

Well, for the best Indy, I recommend buying the Sideshow 1/6 figure. But be willing to spend a bit more money for customization. Personally, I would buy a new body that features a sculpted neck, order the whole Indy kit from Shawn (and of course consider Mfisher's belts/whips as well), and repaint both heads (or hire one of the many talented painters on this board to do it for you).

A bit more money? So basically, buy it for the heads and replace everything else. :lol

Best till Hot Toys makes one.

Best because I seriously doubt HT will touch Indy. They could've just as easily scooped up the Asian license when Medicom dropped it, but they didn't. Sideshow's Indy isn't selling well enough at $90. I doubt HT's would sell well enough at $180 to justify it.

I'm not so sure that has as much to do with Indy as it does the myriad problems associated with that particular figure. I don't think an entire line by HT would be successful, but Indy himself would be a big seller imo.

I'm sure HT would've already made an Indy if Sideshow hadn't been producing them. With the close working relationship the two companies have, I would guess professional courtesy was involved. Now that Sideshow's line is on hold, maybe they'll pass the ball to HT.

I doubt it. Sideshow also has a close working relationship with Medicom and that never stopped them. The hardest hurdle HT's going to have to overcome if they pick up Indy (again, I don't think they will), is convincing disheartened collectors to pick up yet another Indy but at $180 (standard HT pricing w/LFL licensing added). And any errors at that pricepoint, regardless of how minor, would raise all hell. I'd be right there with Agent5 in his obsessive overcriticality.

The remedy to all of these issues would be if one of these companies would just get one person.. just ONE person on staff that would actually do some simple research and get the details right... I mean seriously... some of the basic flaws in what hit the market were just inexcusable... like how in the heck can there be a plausible excuse for the green jackets on the Raiders PF.. or the buttons on the Raiders jacket... ten minutes with a Blueray disc or a short trip through a site like Indygear would have gotten a lot of the major flaws fixed during design and production.... I just don't get how a license as potentially hot as this one was so mishandled...

You would be surprised. It takes a lot of work and money to make Sideshow Indy look good. After custom work for decent clothing, accessories, and repaint, you're looking at a $400+ figure. Most people don't want to bother with the effort, time, and cost. Then take a look at HT Wolverine. I would gladly pay $200+ for a HT Indy that features the same type of realistic appearance that made it out of the factory (including detailed body, accessories, clothing, etc.).
