Can't agree more...although I do buy Marvel, DC and Star Wars stuff and lots of it. I do yearn for more variety. The colonial Marines are top on my list but I know due to licensing, they would never make the whole team or even the core team. We'd probably get Ripley, Hicks and maybe Bishop or Hudson and that would be it. Next would be the extraction team but I know that will never happen.

****, this thread is like some kind of AA meeting. :lol

Hi! My name is Tony, and I haven't bought a HT figure in a few years....but I might get Leto's Joker. Please help me :gah:

Didn't release there was licensing issues around the marines.

Shudder...

Gentlemen u do realize that "Aliens & Robots" is all about 20 y.o. IPs, right?
There was not enough stuff to get excited about in the last I dunno 10 years. Do you really expect this part of the forum to flourish or smth?

We did just get a new Aliens alien a few months back, and Ripley is on P.O. Plus. . .I think the Genysys endoskeleton is forthcoming :lol

So, these aren't totally dead. But interest has waned, as has HT's output for obvious reasons. I blame Difabio. If he hadn't bought that Vader, who knows what might have happened?

I don't care so much anymore though. Hot Toys figures got too expensive and I've been enjoying watching the pile of cash get thicker to a point where getting new toys is almost a nuisance because it interferes with that new money-saving addiction - and I'm just talking about NECA there. If Hot Toys were back in the mix at the prices they are now, ***k.
If you replace "cash" and "money-saving" with "****," then I would be 100% in agreement with you.

I'm pretty happy with what Blitzway, Virtual Toys, and Three Zero are doing, picking up some of their slack. A couple years back we had to go the custom route for most of that stuff.

I wish HT would revisit some of their early licenses, before MCU and DC became their bread and butter.

I wish they'd lose them honestly. They either abandon the license by not doing anything with them or do them half hardheartedly.

I'd like to see Blitzway scoop up licenses for 1/6 Alien, Terminator, 80s/90s film Batman and Beetlejuice lines. Their Ghostbusters and Fight Club figures look amazing, better than what Hot Toys could do. Hot Toys can keep their Marvel, Star Wars and modern DC thing they got going on. Leave the older classics to a company that cares.

Toys, money, they've come and gone. **** has been my constant.

You are wise.

It wouldn't surprise me if they don't have the rights to Rocky, Rambo, Jack Nicholson likeness, Indiana Jones, Planet of the Apes and Bruce Lee. That still leaves Alien, Predator, Terminator and Robocop. Then there are the unusual licenses like Godfather, Platoon, and the occasional Tim Burton related figure.

Yeah probably. It was dumb of them to gobble those lines up, though it probably made sense business wise so they didn't have any competition from other companies.

They had plans to do a whole new Rocky and Rambo line. Remember the pics of Chan meeting with Stallone around the time of the Expendables figures? Wonder what happened with that. The situation with Nicholson sucks because Hot Toys is/was the only game in town. There's so many cooler Jokers that could be done that will never see the light of day in collectible form, not just Joker, but other icons like Jack Torrance as well. Hot Toys blew it with Indiana Jones too. They took one shot at it, failed miserably, and that was it.

I wonder if anyone will do Blade Runner 2049 collectibles, or if that's even an option (nobody can do Blade Runner for instance). It'll probably be like Dredd 3D or Mad Max Fury Road.

But adev is this because you have gained hot toys apathy over the years or was it just impulse buying because they haven't released anything you really want? I mean do you think there's a drop in quality in the figures compared to what you used to get i.e dx figures?

I have apathy about them, yes, but it arose from a combination of them ceasing and desisting on my preferred movies and my own need to stop spending every cent I earned on toys - moreso than any drop in quality. There were certainly some disappointing figures but I think the potential is always there for new figures to bring in something worthwhile even if they drop the ball on other things - such as MMS238 T-800 - despite being generally disappointing to me it at least got us some decent pants and boots to use on the earlier MMS136 whose own pants were the wrong colour and whose boots looked a bit silly.

So the odds are there'd be some good reason to buy new T1 and T2 figures if they were made.

I missed the boat on the Colonial Marines and would love to see a new Vasquez, Hicks, and Hudson. I know I could get the originals off eBay, but the sculpts aren't that great, and I've seen all the mods that people have done to make them accurate. Nowadays, I think HT could knock them out of the park, instead I'll have to settle for the Neca versions.

Didn't release there was licensing issues around the marines.

Not really issues per se. Just that they have to get each actors permission to use their likeness which = $$$$

For a 20+ year old franchise, they'd likely not make their money back.

So, that being said, I'm trying to resist the urge to buy the Neca figs.

Really glad Neca had picked up where Hot Toys has fallen of the radar. Ive gotten sick of the SW and Iron Man gravy train that i sold most of those figures and started getting the older Sideshoe Joe figures and Asmus's LoTR line. Is Asmus the best? No, but dammit they care. Check out the Aragon thread, hell they love seeing their figures redone and kitbashed. Its refrshing to see.
