Interrogator was one of the better Cobra figures from the latter half of the line: https://www.yojoe.com/action/91/interrogator.shtml

Not that I think Sideshow will touch anything past '88, though. And even anything from 1986-88 will be the exception to the rule, for a long while yet, I think. :)

IMHO . . . the 1988 was the definitive last year of the line. Everything after that was pretty much MEH with very few exceptions.

With that said below is my very short list of characters I’d like to see post-1988 . . . from a realistic standpoint in keeping with the current motif/theme of the line.

--

1989: ALLEY VIPER, NIGHT-VIPER
1991: BIG BEN, CRIMSON GUARD IMMORTAL, RED STAR
1992: GENERAL FLAGG

That’s pretty much it.

'88 was a very good year, figure-wise at least. The vehicles really started to get a big wacky in '87.

I think the problem with the '88 figures is that they aren't "classic" to most, since they weren't in the Sunbow cartoon.

I guess at least a few of the '87 guys get a pass because of the movie, though it's too bad some of the best figures from that year (Outback, I'm looking at you) weren't featured.

All I know is that I'm a completitionist when it comes to the '82-'88 figures, and pick and choose the rest. I MIGHT end up getting all of them up until '90. 1990 in particular is an underrated year. After that it gets really spotty, but there are some gems right up until the line ended in '94.

I'm talking about the original RAH line, btw. I probably wouldn't buy every single character in "Sideshow format". Mainly just the key ones, and personal favourites, I think.

After 86 they kinda had to get crazy with the types of vehicles to offer up something that wasn't done yet.

Just realized I have 37 Joe figures :google

I could handle 37 more before the line dies.

Sadly, I will likely die before that ever happens.

For the line to end and me to be 100% satisfied I will need the following from Sideshow:

Destro
Baroness
Tomax & Xamot
Chrome dome Cobra Commader
Buzzer
Ripper
Torch
Scarlet
Roadblock
Shipwreck

I can easily add another 20 to that list, but honestly if got just those and the line ended I wouldn't feel bitter about it. I don't think thats too much to ask.

IF . . .

I ever win the lottery.

I'll ask for a private commission through Sideshow to produce the remaining classic core characters in very limited runs (i.e. 100 pieces each) and sell them on eBay.

:lol

Yeah, even in '86 they were halfway over the shark. :)

Stuff like Serpentor, Sci-Fi and the STUN all have a place in my heart, but you could definitely see that they were starting to go in a crazier, more science fiction-oriented direction by then.

1982-85 were the best years, imo. 1986 is up there too, but not quite in the same league. I guess I like things a BIT more realistic, though I don't mind a little fantasy/sci-fi in GI Joe either. After all, the HAL, laser troopers, the Skyhawk and Destro are all kind of out there, but more in a James Bondish kind of way, I think, which still works very well.

Didn't Sideshow mention that were going to explore the more "sci-fi" elements of GI JOE in a previous Q&A interview session like a year or so ago?

That response brought hopes we may eventually see characters like FLASH, SCI-FI, and maybe even MAINFRAME.

:lecture 1982-1986...some of the best years Joe collecting

That is a good list. I have 45 RAH Joes with 6 more in various stages.

I'd like to see Lady Jaye, Zarana and Mindbender.

Good list there, buddy. I think I nodded after reading each name on it.

But with the rate SSC is handling this franchise, I can only wish that I would still be breathing by the time they reach the Dreadnoks on your list.
