I found Spirit.

I don't remember how he was portrayed in the cartoon, but visually, I don't think Spirit is too stereotypical to the point of insulting. He's got a lot of Native American design elements, but its not like he came with a bottle of whisky. The elements like the hunting knife, the eagle, and a dart gun always seemed to be nice elements that tied to his job function and not just his culture. I don't really find him too different than Shipwreck in that regard.

I wish I had my own eagle named "Freedom".

Spirit was an incredibly insulting character. While Shipwreck might stand as a stereotypical sailor, Spirit was nothing more then a ill conceived mish-mash bastardization of a Native American. Tonto 2.0.

The way he was potrayed in the cartoon, at times, yeah. However the idea of a native american tracker that could hold his own in hand to hand combat with Storm Shadow was pretty awesome. When I was a kid I enjoyed him. Now /shrug whatever. If SS made him I would prolly buy him.

He did have cool aspects to his character, for sure. And I only say this now as an adult, but they could have done without much of the over the top look.... When I was a kid he was cool as could be. Of course I was around 9 at the time.

"incredibly insulting"? Thats a little dramatic. He's not as insulting as the Cleveland Indians mascot or the Washington Redskins name. He didn't have a chestplate made from bones or a bottle of whisky or a huge headress or come with a tomahawk. He's not half dressed in a loin cloth.

I unfortunatly can't speak for the comics or the cartoon though cause I don't remember.

U really hated Spirit didn't you Nam :rotfl

I can see it now. Spirit kicks Storm Shadows ass, then little 'Nam throws his cereal at the tv.

1/6 Spirit would kick ass. So would original Shockwave, 82 Stalker, 84 Roadblock, 83 Torpedo, 83 Destro.

Make em all.

:lecture

Destro's head had better damn be chromed, though! :lecture

After playing around with Assajj last night I really think SSC could make Scarlett work on the femBuck. Assajj's outfit has padded in the torso section and upper arms so she doesn't have have that stickfigure appearance like say Buffy did. Scarlett would need that too.
Imagine:
Pretty much a one-piece costume with the proper gloves and boots. Crossbow, maybe a quiver, throwing stars, the same XMLR Duke has, and if they put the revolver under her left wrist well that'd just be icing on the cake! Ex. would be Intchangeable helmetted head.

SDCC AF Quarrel "repaint"...:drool

It's just my opinion..... Perhaps "incredibly insulting" is a bit strong, but like I said, this is the way I feel as a 35 year old man and not a 9 year old so we'll just say slightly insulting. Its assumed all Native American men have some sort of sixth-seventh sense in regard to other worldly powers, and although highly patriotic (most served as 'point' on search and destroy missions in Vietnam)- I doubt a young warrior like Spirit would help his colonizer with said perceived powers.
most Native men and warriors dress like you and I. You dont see Jacoby Ellsbury crashing into the Green Monster with a head band and tasseled pants.

Also I'd like to know what band or nation he belongs to. Spirit's identity is as important as his role in combating Cobra and keeping America safe. Is he federally enrolled in a sovereign recognized nation? Its assumed he's just a generic "indian." But no further info is given.

Okay, I'm just being a smart-ass :lol:rolleyes:.... Anyway, I wouldn't buy him, but I'm much more selective with my Joe purchases then most.

They made him wear a loincloth over his pants.

me too of course. trust me. i'm a life long Cleveland Indians fan and am ready to change the name and mascot. I actually BOYCOTT Columbus day. I'm a fan of many things in the Native American culture and symphathize with their plight more than most probably. I'm not coming at this without sensitivity to the issue. I just don't see Spirit's design to be that offensive.

One that I really want and I'd like him to be HUGE and dwarf all the JOE's I would pay big $$$ for a custom but I'm sure he will never see the light of day from Sideshow.
