Ok i am really unhappy with Sideshow now. I received a damaged statue.

I wanted a replacement but since i'll be out of the country for 3 months and wouldn't be here for it to arrive i asked for a refund and then i thought i could just order it again when i get to the US. At first they were really helpful and said they would issue a full refund including my shipping and packout. All i needed to do was destroy the statue. When i asked what would happen about the taxes i would be charged they seemed to dodge the question.

Well on Monday i called FedEx regarding the tax invoice. I haven't received it yet but it will be close to $100. I explained to them that i would be destroying the item as it was damaged and would not be paying the invoice and would be happy to send them proof. They said to me bluntly that i had no option but to pay unless i have proof of return shipping and even then i must pay the processing fees. If i didn't they would blacklist me and then bill Sideshow as the original shipper.

So i emailed Sideshow and got a reply saying they can do a partial refund instead of having me destroy it and offered me $25 cash or $35 in credit. Unhappy i replied saying that wasn't really acceptable and i got a further two replies saying $35 in credit, take it or leave it (in nicer words). I can't believe the two choices are to destroy it or get less than a 10th of my cost in credit considering the statue was $250, shipping $40, the packout $10 and then the tax close to $100. They don't seem to have a proper procedure for dealing with taxes on returns and if you get a damaged item from them and live outside the US then you are screwed because they won't help you, or at least me.

Seriously reconsidering all my future orders now.

Wow, that really sux. Did you call or email? You should definitely call them and see whats up. Seems like people have much more success working stuff out if they call sideshow direct.

Thanks sarakawa. It was via email since i am in the UK at the moment. I may try calling them tomorrow if that is the case.

Thats terrible to hear, I had to eat 110 for my Galactus because of fedex. Since they bill my visa card the invoice next time i'll just open a dispute with visa and let them deal with it. i honestly get fed up chasing them to refund me. its like a department that possible either 1 person works or doesn't exist.

Try taking another shot without the flash it looks like dirt if not, best of luck to you pally

You got me worried Racetrack! I've got about $2,000 worth shipping this year.
I thought any Fed-Ex bill could be reclaimed for destroyed items.

Good luck mate and keep us informed of your progress.

Actually it just occurred to me, the Spider=man top has the webbing under the armpits while the Spider-man statue coming out doesn't. A moot point but seems like a rather odd oversight yes?

One of my favorite things about Spidey's costume is the underarm webbing, I dream of a future Spidey PF with the webbing, but it's probably the most overlooked element on Spidey statues. Probably because most see it as unnecessary or too hard to get right. The movie costumes don't even have it. Either way it's interesting that a MJ statue gets the webbing when most Spidey's don't. The Marvel Milestones statue is the main one that comes to mind that has the underarm webbing.

Well, I said so multiple times on the board. Nobody refunds your import fees. We already lost about 400$ on them (including the time that we only paid 30€ per statue)
This, the increasing prices and the questionable quality is what's pushing us away from ssc. I rather do business with gaming heads and first 4 figures simply because they have an European warehouse...

I can't be bothered anymore. I just destroyed it. What a shame that they would rather loose $300 than the 25% i asked for and upset a loyal customer in the process.

Well that sucks, but from their pov, they are not the ones collecting the tax/import fee's. Thats a seperate issue depending on where you live. Besides, having you destroy it means they can re-sell that same numbered statue at full price instead of taking a 25% bath on yours. They will just pull a replacement out, number it, voila. Or write it off.

I am really not sure how overseas collectors can justify the added costs of going direct, but then again, the european currencies and much better than the USD...

The only reason we go direct is simply because of the exclusives. What we also factor in is, if nothing goes wrong, with the price and reward points, we're better off buying direct. Not to mention that the chance of having a replacement also increases.

Even if that is the case they are still loosing $50 that i paid on the shipping at the very least + the base cost of the item with all it's packaging, etc and most importantly a customer who at the moment has 16 items on order. 16! I honestly expected a goodwill gesture but no. Destroy it or get $25 and keep it and deal with the taxes yourself either way because we sent you a damaged item.

I am not saying they are right and you are wrong. Just that I am sure they have these policies in place to handle the majority of cases for that very reason. If they gave out 1/4 of the purchase price every time a piece had an issue, it would destroy their margins. Again, feel for you, sucks, no two ways around that.
