How did you manage that?

Mine was chippd on the bottom so i called SS for a replacement. Havent got it in yet though.

Proof of Concept:


This may not look like much, but this is a photo of the hookah globe being lit by a mini-Mag flashlight shining into the hole I drilled through the base of the hookah. It looks considerably brighter in person, as you would expect.

NICE! Id be worried about hitting the magnet. Not sure, but breaking it, I believe, will change the polarity. I could be wrong.

I used a screwdriver to test where the magnet was. It's in the middle and is about the size of the one in the Mynock. That's why I went in diagonally from the edge of the bottom.

Since I'm not a wizard at this sort of thing, I have enlisted the help of my friend Chris from this point on out. Chris is an electronics genius.

I just got back from Fry's with the LEDs for this project. I purchased three superbright LED's:

From left to right: a 17 candela green (for the hookah globe), a 6.4 candela white (for the frog bowl), and a 8 candela yellow (for the fanning jawa).

I'll do my best to keep a project log, including parts, for those of you playing along at home. ;D

Say guys I was just testing things out with a flashlight and I'm not positive a light from above the bowl will look right. With the top surface being flat much of the light will bounce off the green water and not make it "glow". I think if you could drop the light down into the water you would get a much better effect. Try putting the flashlight right next to the bowl by the green water and then move it up to shine down and it looses much of the glow. Hey Metaphorge maybe you could test my theory on the light from above since you have the hole drilled already.

I've gotten the project planned out and have the LEDs soldered onto their wires; I'm bogged down in attaching electrical connectors (I'm not an ace at soldering so it's slow going at the moment).

I'm not entirely sure I'm happy with the green LED for the hookah globe and might swap it out if I can find a suitably bright replacement. What do you guys think?

The downlight into the bowl is producing a good effect; I might try dropping it down a bit when I'm fine-tuning the project, but I like how it looks for now.

I'm in a quandary about the green. Yes, it looks great... but is also highly film inaccurate. I'm trying to decide whether I should replace it with a white bulb (which I'll have to mailorder, grr).

In good time. The photos of the lights were only a test; I still have to wire in resistors, connectors and the power supply (it's going to run on AC, not batteries, since I want to leave it on pretty much all the time).
