What in gods name is this major waste of time and money........

Since it's a Sideshow original, I'm hoping it's a bit cheaper than both Joker and Batman.

That would be nice. :D

I gotta say, I'm impressed with this. The first production peek didn't do anything for me, but seeing the completed product, I kind of like it.

I really love the general style of the outfit. To be honest, while I think this piece looks quite cool, I think I would enjoy it even more with a regular sinister human head and without the tentacles out of the stomach or the hands. That would be an amazing exclusive, but I wouldn't expect such a thing.

Regardless I think the tentacles by his chest are actually pretty unneeded. To me the hands and face suffice. Seriously though that outfit seems really well tailored. Love the hat and coat.

This piece was so shockingly amazing in person I did a double take when I walked past it. So interesting and surprising, the detail was wonderful, one of Sideshows best pieces at the show for sure.

Agreed. I too would have prefered something more historical rather than fantasy.

I talked with Sideshow about this and he's part of the Dead line (and not Live by the Sword for example). Basically anything creepy and original from them at this point on is under the Dead banner. They've got a whole backstory explaining the tentacles and stuff that they'll put up with him. So I'm waiting to hear it out. I think the shock of something so out there is what is causing the stir here. The sculpt and outfit are beautiful and it makes for a great piece. Its only when you attach the name "Jack the Ripper" to it that people go "huh?" :lol

But I got the impression they are really going to kick things back into gear with the Dead. So it should make for a great Spooktacular this year! :clap

I loved this statue since I saw the first teaser. I really don't mind the sort of Lovecraftian look they gave him, especially since it looks like it jumped straight out of a Victorian horror story. Although we can almost certainly assume Jack the Ripper wasn't a tentacled abomination (read the previous statement in Carl Sagan's voice), there were lots of word-of-mouth accounts of his appearance as a monster, which is a very cool aspect of his Myth, IMO.

That's awesome news, both about the piece having a back story and about the Dead line.

There was an occult element to some of the rippers killings and there have been a few books written about the black magic connection to the murders so i guess Sideshow went with the theory that Jack the Ripper was some kind of demon possessed individual.

The prototype looks very impressive, i have a feeling this is a Gore Group sculpt.

Yes I agree this definately appears to be a "Gore Group" based sculpt.
Either way if a Sculpt has anything to do with death, gore, Hell, Misery...basically any sorts of darkness chances are pretty high that those types of sculpts will end up in my bedroom. :FREAK:
With all the number of Dark sculpts I have coming in from Sideshow this year (and probably through next year depending on when they are all released) I could not have picked a better time to become single.
There is no way any decent Woman would want to walk in my room even though the Horror of it to me is beautiful. :)
