That's a real pity, he was great in what I remember of Fresh Prince. He had a real respectable authority about him, probably due to his voice

One of my favorite scene from television history. The emotion both Will Smith and James Avery portrayed are just incredible. It's one of the few moments where I've cried for something on a screen.

That sucks. I really liked him. He was great in Fresh Prince and of course as Shredder.

Yeah, I recently watched all of the Fresh Prince seasons this past year and that particular scene definitely stuck out for me.
Sad to hear about James Avery; his Uncle Phil character was so likeable.

If I remember correctly he was also the voice of War Machine in the spider man animated series. I remember hearing his voice in a lot of cartoons but mostly remember him as uncle Phil and shredder. A real shame. RIP big guy.
