Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

That suit looks really cheap and nasty and doesn't look to suit Bond at all. I have still yet to see a decent Bond outfit that's not a tux.

I have that suit....it's not a bad suit at all and it is very screen accurate to the beginning of Skyfall. Just waiting on a good DC head.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Roger may have been referring to the poor details on the suit, such as the pockets - they make it look very low-rent. But the a55 is cut all wrong, the belt loops are insanely oversized, etc. Details which give it a really toy-like (cheap) appearance.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It's easy to pick apart suits that are available. It's nearly impossible to offer up an alternative that doesn't cost as much (or more) than a suit I could buy to wear myself.

Anyone know of some others? I'm not going for scene specific. But I would prefer gray to black or blue.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Haven't a number of them already been mentioned here before? I couldn't make a 1/6 suit for $50 let alone buy a real suit for that price, but there are constantly all manner of suits featured in the forum that look better tailored than the latest Asmus example. I'm not saying they'd all meet your bond-specific requirements, and definitely grey isn't the more popular option.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Man, this thread has simply become the "Daniel Craig" thread. There is a lot more to BOND than Craig.

Anyway, anybody notice that Rocco may be doing a Le Chiffre sculpt? I'm trying to sort what outfit to make for a Le Chiffre bash.

Suggestions welcome for those who want to play... or are tired of discussing the lousy Craig options. :D

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Personally, I'm interested in two bond figures - a Connery Bond and a Craig Bond. I've already got the best Connery sculpt available and have ordered the best Connery-era approximate tux to ever be released to my knowledge. For Craig I'm waiting for an excellent head sculpt and an excellent tux. Since it's all bashed anyway, I'm making due with the Brothers Production kit at the moment, but have the Roadshow head sculpt I can easily swap out to.

It makes sense that people are talking predominantly about Craig since he's the latest actor and since he's the only one that has never had an officially licensed product. With a new Mads Mikkelsen sculpt coming, I wonder how many people will be interested in creating a TV-based Hannibal Lector - he's fantastic in that role, which is much more memorable than Le Chiffre, IMO.

EDIT: Hehe.. I just looked at the thread and it *IS* indeed a Hannibal-inspired commission.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yep, Hannibal was the start... strange considering the ratings on that show. But everything has a following of a kind; for the Dexter-lite group.

Personally I never thought much of Le Chiffre but over time, given the lack of truly memorable villains in the Craig era, Mads has kind of stuck out as one of the better nemesis.

Actually my favorite is Mollaka -- only because that opening chase sequence is probably the single best action sequence in all the Craig Bonds so far, to me.

I watch and enjoy both series and let me tell you, there's nothing lite about Hannibal. It's very gruesome in fact for prime-time, easily moreso than Dexter. A little more gruesome than it needs to be, IMO - I'm not into gore. It's a strong show and I thought it had good reviews - great at IMDB and TV.com -the network picked it up for a second season. SO far I've liked everything Brian Fuller has created, especially Pushing Daisies which didn't make it beyond Season 2.

Back on topic. I rarely check the thread list, but are there other threads where people are mentioning Bond or Bond characters? Of course it's possible everyone is just obsessed with Iron Man these days. ;)

Really, I heard it was cancelled. :dunno

This was always the MAIN Bond thread. Not sure if there are any other threads beyond a specific figure like the MI6 Agent Bone thread. Why do you ask?

And yes, Iron Man/Avengers has brought a whole new group to Freaks much like TDK did back in 2008... but they do tend to stick with their central focus. For Bond talk, pretty much you, me, and the six other guys in here plus Leia.

Renewal announced May 30th by NBC I believe - I just confirmed this on TV.com a couple of days ago. It's usual that shows I get into get cancelled, so this was a positive surprise.

Based on your mention of a Craig-focus here lately, I was just wondering if maybe we've missed some posts about other Bonds and other bond characters because people have posted elsewhere.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I suppose the Craig-centric nature of the conversations lately is not surprising because of the recent splurge of new sculpt announcements. I'm happy myself to be finally getting some form of Craig on my shelf. Just hope there's still room in here for talk about other aspects of the Bond franchise. Hate to see threads get small.

Precisely,

The material looks really cheap looking too. The ZCWO head doesn't do it any favours either, the whole thing looks like a cheap toy.

The DID head might not look totally like Craig, but, the cut of the tux and the quality of it all really make it stand out to me. I'm happy enough for now with my SSC tux, but, if I can find the DID one cheap loose I may still go for it.

Oh sure, there is definitely room for other things, but, right now Craig is the only thing tangible that we can all get our hands on. If a definitive Craig gets done then we can tick it off our lists and move on to the rest of the Bond characters. I'd like a decent Connery too.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I want a good quality Brosnan as much as I want a good quality Craig!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Maybe Hot Toys will do a Remington Steele series and you can grab a head sculpt. There should only be a little bit of hair poofiness to trim down. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Craig and Dalton are my favorites... I have a Dalton already that I like a lot, and I'm nearing completion on my Craig sculpt. I have a (rather blah) SSC Brosnan that I'm going to try to spruce up into something that I like.

I haven't decided yet if I want a Connery or not; I probably do, but I haven't seen a sculpt that really does it for me yet. But then it gets to the point of "Well, you have 4 out of 6, you should just suck it up and do Moore and Lazenby too." Lazenby's okay as a Bond, I guess (though I hate OHMSS), and Moore is my least favorite Bond. Eh, completionism.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The likeness is great, but, the neck is way too short. Put that in a tux and watch it disappear. Sculptors need to visualise the finished figure and not just the head.
