Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

There's plenty of painters in the customs section that can paint the hell out of this sculpt....just check out the repaint commission thread Roger.

I'm well aware of that, but, the cost of a head and then the cost of commissioning a paint job is more than I'm willing to pay.

I'm perfectly happy to settle for the DID head

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I like the BBKill sculpt and I'm a little tempted by an upcoming second opportunity. I actually joined the forum originally to buy the head when it came out, so it seems weird not to buy it. But I don't want two Craigs and I already have the one I sculpted.

A bit off topic, but I was watching Casino Royale again the other day, and again it struck as a bit unnecessary that Vesper killed herself.
Why did she do it?

She killed herself to prevent having Quantum able to use her against Bond. The way she ended up working for them (and against Bond) to begin with was because they were threatening her boyfriend (who was actually working for Quantum).

I think M says this at the end of CR, but it's made a lot clearer in QoS.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I have total respect for all on this thread, but the comment about the paint job in the DID making hot toys look like hasbro had me scratching my head, it's nowhere near in the ball park.

Also still struggling to see how anyone can think its a good likeness. I give it 6/10.

However there's no disputing that it's a super high quality head.

Sorry, but I stand by my comment. For me, the best paint jobs I've seen aren't HT, but Enterbay and this particular DID. Sure, I'm exaggerating when I say Hasbro, but really, I think that here,, HT has a thing or two to learn...:)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

If you hold the head in the natural sunlight you will see that the paint job is nothing spectacular at all for the DID. I'm not saying its bad, not at all, but the majority of the new hot toy heads destroy it in terms of paint job and the ones from three years ago when they were better certainly do .

I'll totally agree that Enterbay totally has HT beat in terms of paint jobs.

This DID head looks a bit unrealistic compared to hot toys and Enterbay heads. In the sunlight you can see the washes. He has unnaturally blended dark spots around his lips, the outline of his upper eyelid is too pronounced and dark, he's got a few odd yellow and red spots not properly blended, the hair line blending is nice especially for DID because they always attempt to blend hairlines but it just looks weird. But the hair itself is not too realiaticly pained. It actually looks black washed.

It's for sure a jump in the right direction for DID.

If you want a moderately priced high quality ready painted head for Daniel Craig James Bond, I'd say this is an OK option. Maybe the best, still it's a 7/10 head though at best. It beats the simple toys and roadshow heads which have a bit more likeness simply because the quality is better but it just looks like a different person than Daniel Craig.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I spent the evening opening & setting up a couple of DID MI6 Agent “Jack” figures I purchased recently.

I like many was anticipating this figure since it was announced by DID. There has been much discussion here & elsewhere about the head sculpt likeness to Daniel Craig. In addition, early pictures from China/Hong Kong initially made it appear the quality was flawed before better in hand pictures alleviated concerns many had.

With the figure hitting stateside and now being available from the usual sources, collectors are chiming in with their satisfaction ranging from mixed to positive reviews.

This is my very first DID figure and I am very satisfied with it. I’m not going to bother showing pictures of the box and contents because we’ve already seen them online.

The head sculpt in hand is very good, but it’s not 100% accurate and does not precisely match the pictures DID used in marketing & promoting the figure. It’s close, but still off. In hand, I’d say the likeness to Daniel Craig is about 80% to 90% based on one’s perspective.

The paint application on the head sculpt is superb and I cannot purposely find any fault with the ones I have. I will say that based on pictures posted online by others, this particular head sculpt is hard to capture properly. In hand, the head sculpt is very good, but it does not translate well in pictures based on angles & lighting.

The fit of the tuxedo suit is exceptional. The cut & material is excellent and does not feel cheap in any way.

A highlight of the figure is the Walther PPK pistol. It comes with two clips, a silencer, and the shoulder holster rig. Be very careful with the shoulder holster rig because it has hooks that latches onto the pants so be very careful when undressing the figure (i.e. don’t pull off the pants immediately). The pistol itself upon closer examination appears a bit undersized which appears to be a common observation by some, but overall it’s still done very well.

I broke down a second one so I can dress it using a different suit. I used a TOYS CITY men’s business suit and the fit is perfect. I’m quite impressed with the DID all era body. It’s on par with the HT TTM 22 (slim) body with some differences; moreover, it’s a bit taller.

I plan to open up a few more so I can kit bash them using different outfits & suits.

I’ve seen this figure being offered by the usual sources starting around $100.00 and up. I really recommend this figure to anyone who is a James Bond collector/enthusiast. It’s reasonably priced and definitely a highlight & worthwhile figure in my collection.

That’s it. I hope others will chime in with their comments & reviews as well.

Nice review. Is the neck connection the same as Hot toys? I have a Bbkill head Bond coming in and this seems the easiest route to put him together with

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'd say similar, HT heads will fit that body but are a bit loose, even older DID heads don't quite fit, but can be made to. Bear in mind that BBKill's head is resin and you might not be able to adjust the neck size all that easily if it's been drilled too small.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Nice job, for some reason though, I don't see a spot on Daniel Craig there.

Will we ever get one that's 100%!?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Might be the hair. I think the face looks great, and it's a great paintup, definitely, but his hair is almost bleach-blonde, especially in the train scene at the beginning. It's going to be hard to pull off. I'm planning on doing mine with off-white and gold, with maybe a few streaks of a darker color like this mixed in...we'll see as more pics come in!

EDIT: Could be the picture too - gold never comes out well in pictures, if it was used. Might be awesome in person!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Skyfall Bonds hair is definitely not bleach blonde more of a greyish brown with a bit of blonde a weird color to capture for sure!

Humbrol Desert Yellow (or equivalent thereof) with brown and pale yellow pastel, that's that I've used in the past.

Not kidding! His hair, actually his whole look completely changes every time you see him! He's like a chameleon!

The picture you posted is what I'd Want my sculpt's hair painted like too. Not bleach blonde, not gold, inbetween. perfect.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I ordered a blue tux from very cool. Anyone else here use this one? Little worried what I'm gonna get for the price seemed really cheap

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I think Rahmier84 did a great paint job and no question got the hair 100% right. As Platty said it totally differs scene to scene and what light he is in. The complexion and hair and eyebrows to skin can totally make or break the likness.

I have two outfits for my craig, this is the first. The coulson body is perfect for the size of the bbkill head which is a tad undersized.

The Verycool tux looks horrible on a regular narrow shoulder TT. Thankfully it looks great on the more narrow build Coulson.

Will post properly lit photos ad the other outfit later on
