Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

You know, I'm beginning to wonder if there ever will be a decent Craig now. Modern Life are probably history. BBKill might get there, but after how many attempts!? I don't trust Yha's sense of scale either. Also, Inigo has now done sculpts for Pop Culture Shock, so he may drop his 'custom' heads if he's being paid by a manufacturer with licenses to do them. Unlicensed heads on the side might not sit well with them. Custom HS's could start dying out if we're not careful....

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Given the popularity of the character, I'm sure we'll continue to see lots of different attempts from people. But as to whether any of those turn out to be good, who knows.

Might not be until the next Bond actor comes along that someone finally does a great Craig sculpt (at least a Craig sculpt we can buy, anyway).

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I have an idea, but I'm not sure...You see-ht girl who have made young capo Pacino and Dirty Harry sculpts made them as private custom for iminime.Maybe she can do it for us too if we'll be enough interesents to pay her?And MJ also is alive even if his Indy was anounced as last work.I think is possible to get ultimate Craig also.In attach sculpts girl made

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Am I the only one who thinks the ML sculpt looks like Daniel Craig crossed with the former talk show host by the last name Cavett?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yeah to me the ML sculpt was kinda overrated to begin with. It's beautifully painted of course, but the more you compare with the real thing the less it really seems to capture him.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Those raw sculpts for Iminime look good, trouble was they got shrunk when they were cast. This is the BIGGEST issue with non commercial sculpts, either the sculptor has no sense of scale or they go to a cheap caster, either results in too many size discrepancies.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I mean, Roger, maybe this sculptor girl is good enough to nail correct DC and if we will find good caster-it will be chance to get perfect Craig head?Maybe someone who know here should ask price and we'll make an interest thread?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Good though she is, she would probably charge as much as MJ would and I don't want to spend more than $100 on a head. Nice idea, but possibly beyond most pockets.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Well and good for you, but, if the same were said of the majority then it wouldn't be long before all custom heads cost that much and that would be wrong. I believe this hobby should be for all and not the preserve of a rich few. A view that HT have sadly long not shared.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

By the time you pay for shipping and commission a HT quality paint job (unless you are talented enough to pull it off yourself) a bbkill head ends up costing about 200.00. Given the number of people seeking those heads on this thread alone, I think it is safe to say that the custom market has already become the preserve of the few who can afford it. If anyone has trouble believing that then just look at how many 1200.00 figures sell in the commerce section of this site. If HT (or any other high end mass production company for that matter) were ever to acquire a bond license you would pay about 200.00 for a complete figure, not just a head. Since it seems unlikely that a 1/6 Bond license will happen, I would be willing to pay a high price for a sculpt for the sole reason that I would never have to look for another Craig head. As it is now, a lot of collectors (myself included) have spent a lot of money on less than definitive (including the bbkill attempts) Craig heads. I keep holding out for a mass produced pre-painted head that will fit that bill and was excited about the ML project. I think if they had done the Craig sculpt and shelved the cockeyed Wolverine they may have stood a chance of staying in business.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

$200 for a complete figure sounds a lot more reasonable than the same amount for just a head. I know it's an important part of a figure, but, when you look at the figure as a whole the head is just one part compared to the myriad of accessories and clothes. Sometimes I think sculptors charge what they can simply because they can and trade on the marquee value of their name rather than the product itself.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

A figure like Bond where it's just a suit and gun...the head is the most important part.

Never mind their time and effort - those can't surely be worth anything. ;) Your employer must love you, working for free and all.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm in total agreement with Jake, and even with his incredible talent for paint ups he can't fix the flaws that exist in a sculpt that doesn't quite cut it. I'd love to see what he could do with a definitive Craig sculpt. I was impressed as hell with the bbkill Connery results we saw from him.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I know private comission was year ago 700-1000 from different artists. If we are 20 wanters-it's 50$ from person+about 70 first head print and then casts how much we need(wich is cheap as I know). With paintup it will be around 220-250, but it's moste expensive way(if head cost 1000$).So-around 200$ for ultimate Craig head.If we choose artist we can trie.If we sell other allmoste Craigs we have-it will be refund;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

We'll see what BBKill's is like, at least his prices are reasonable. If ML could offer a painted head for what they could then I see no reason why someone else can't.
