In one corner we have a talented, respected Shakespearean Actor.
In the other we have a one hit wonder (Gavin and Stacy, which I hate and I'm sure the USA has never heard of), who not as funny as he thinks he is. He's had a failed movie, and has pretty much sucked at everything he has ever been in

"I want to speak to James here... it is, it's James isn't it?" :lol

James Cordon and the other one from Gavin and Stacy sucks. They're like Russel Brand... I just don't get what is supposed to be funny about them :dunno

I'm no fan of James Corden , in fact I've actually never seen him in anything other than Soccer Aid last week :lol but why did Stewart start to pick on him ?. If he had no reason other than the fact he had his hands in his pockets I'm glad he stuck up for himself.
Oh , and the Jonas Brothers ? , what ? . :lol:rotfl

Think Patrick stewart had a few too many to drink and thought he'd take the young upstart down a peg or two.
Unfortunately he looked an arse and he wer'nt funny and it was cringe making.
I love patrick stewart and he seems a good sort who can have a laugh at himself as seen in ricky gervais' "extras" episodehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg_cwI1Xj4M and the outtakes are really funny, but don't know what posessed him here.

James corden is a good writer and I do like gavin and stacey and some of his other work, although I think he's a bit full of himself now and maybe his head is getting as big as his gut.
Got the vampire film hes in for my birthday and don't really want to watch it now as hes in my bad books for insulting a legend.

Favourite line "good lord"

Corden made a remark about fancying one of the Jonas brothers earlier in the show.
Yes Patrick Stewart embarrassed himself, but he had a few drinks.
Corden came across over aggressive and did not handle the situation at all. He is supposed to be the comedian, but all he could revert to was to tell Sir Patrick Stewart to get the ____ on with it, rather than have some witty comeback (Which I think he is incapable of)

Um.. based on crowd reaction I'd say the fat dude won.

:lol the fat dude :lol

Yeah i like Patrick but there was no need to pick a fight with James and he did look like an idiot at the end of it.

Guess I'm not English enough to find any of it funny. But I agree with Devil, the fat guy won.

Me neither :dunno :lol

...he's not funny whoever he is, that whole thing just looked awkward.
x :peace

I'm guessing you've never watched Gavin & Stacey then? :lol

He did another show with Mathew Horne called "Horne & Corden" and that was brutal just nothing funny at all. :thud:

OHHHH.. Gavin & Stacy. And then he did the other show with Mathew Horne. Horne & Corden. Well you should've said that to begin with.

...

Still no clue. :dunno

:lol

I never posted it because I thought it was funny.

Sir Patrick Stewart is a brilliant actor, who had a bit too much to drink and I feel he should have been humored, not humiliated.
I am sure if Corden had managed the situation better, Sir Patrick would be apologising to him today.
I have never seen much of Corden myself, but I do remember seeing him "die on stage" presenting Never mind the Buzzcocks

If someone starts having ago at you you're not going to stand there and just take it, it doesn't matter who it is doing it imho.

Nah I've not seen either.
Ah well, it was interesting to watch, thanks Dino :duff

I can't believe how old Sir Patrick is looking, I know he's not a young man anymore but I've not seen him for ages and he looks, tired.
Imo anyway.

I didn't watch this because I get embarressed for people. I'm silly like that, but...just the bit I did see, I think Patrick thought Corden was being a proper gentleman in his actions, like standing with his hands in his pockets, which is a no no at functions.

I do have to wonder if this wasn't a put on argument, like they have at the MTV awards. Some of those don't look fake at all.

Did Stewart say anything to the press after it?

Stewart isn't a comedian and the whole thing was just awkward. But if Corden was the host of the show, he should have done something more to move it along smoothly rather than get in Patrick's face.

Gavin & Stacey plays on BBCAmerica, so I have seen a couple of episodes. Never felt the need to see more than a couple of episodes though.
