Hello from Catalonia. I've thought would be nice to start a thread where we can discuss how to help japanese collectors to re-start their damaged collections. I know figures are not the priority by now, as they are just getting up from this disaster, but you know, a good way to return to the normality is to get little pieces from our previous life. I'm sure that could help japanese friends to afford the future.
Then, we would need a list of japanese collectors affected by the earthquake/tsunami in this forum, and another list of items that we can donate. That would be complete figures from any scale, nude bodies, loose pieces, etc.

An example:

Kunanuk:
x6 Sideshow 12" nude bodies.
Various Hasbro 4" figures and loose parts.
Etc...

Obviously this will not be easy, and the answers and doubts will grow, but this is just a basic idea to discuss here.

What do you think?

it's obvious you have good intentions, but i highly doubt that any collectors affected by the tsunami, earth quake, nuclear radiation, or combination thereof, are worried about regaining their collectibles back.

If you really want to help, donate cold hard cash to relief and charity organizations that will help ALL affected and not just people who had a few dolls or statues.

Well, both acts are compatible. I can send cash and figures. What I mean is more a way that a single person can feel better just with a little present from another collector. I'm not talking to start sending figures to Japan. This idea have to wait and needs time to organizate it.
Just put in their place... wouldn't you be happier if a collector from another country gives you a little present after a disaster? I just want to imagine how you would be feel apreciated.

Please think deeper about this.

They are going through hell right now. Last thing they care about is a toy. How about clean water, clothes, food, electricity if your house wasnt flooded, radiation suit!!! Maybe in 2-3 years if things settle and there isnt a fallout.

It's a wonderful thought but as people have already mentioned, getting a collectable from someone will be on no-ones list.
Donating cash through the charities is the best option imo at the momemt.

Yes it would be a nice thing to do but considering the damage, homeless and deaths they are all going through right now, a collectable/toy will be on no-ones list of priorities.
The people who survived are just trying stay alive under terrible circumstances.

Again, I think it's a nice gesture but this is way too early to be considering about sending toys/collectables when they are in such need of basics like food/water and shelter so badly.
Just my opinion anyway.

Wow. This was with good intentions. Seriously, I believed it would be a nice point. Of course, I think about clean water, clothes, food, electricity, and that is why an insignificant object like a figure would let a person think about normality. These little things is what help the humans afford a bad time. You can give water and bed to a child, but what would make him smile will be a toy, a ball, a doll or a wheel and a stick.
Also, I've said that, if I send something like this to a japanese, obviously, it will take time, but also forecast.
This is an initiative, small and sincere. There are a lot of NGO's sendind money and food and voluntaries, and governments sending soldiers and firefighters. Here, we can help a guy to get back a little piece of his life, that's all.

I would be annoyed that I had to carry a figure around with me while I was homeless.

Please be serious, we are not going to throw figures from an airplane.
If we contact in the next months with someone in this forum, japanese or friends, we can tell him, and when he can stay in a house, residence, etc, we send him the figure, or whatever he likes from what we can donate.
