A reason why religion sucks.

One of my buddies broke his leg and his parents took him to one of their church witch doctors and he sprinkled some lemons and flowers and whatever on it so God would heal it.

3 weeks later they had to take him to a real doctor to have the leg rebroke and set right.

he's lucky he didn't lose a leg.

to each their own, it helps prevent overpopulation.

Daily Mail is a hate paper which i really do not like because of there attitude to people that do not share there views.

I think i read the Jim Henson also died because he was a jehovah's witness and refused blood.

Man, some people. :google

Why do people let religion limit their lives? Whatever text they are following was written eons ago- why do they believe the same rules apply today? Ughh. No religion for me thank you.

Rory, thats really just as lame as saying "People who don't have kids will never know true joy" or people who say "I feel sorry for you people who don't have God in your lives... I'll pray for you."

Condescension, in any form, is gnay. :lecture

What do you mean Pix?

I truly just don't understand why, if someone could live by receiving medical attention, they would refuse. It seems like an outdated philosophy to me.

No, I agree with that. It was your way pf phrasing it that made it sound like you feel sorry for people who subscribe to any religion are somehow developmentally challenged. I just remembered you being annoyed by people who thought you were developmentally challenged because you don't want kids and I figured its kind of the same thing only the shoe is on the other foot.

You two kiss and make up. I understood what Rory meant Perhaps not the best of choice of words, but I agree that religion can limit a person's thinking. I know many cases in which it has. However, I can understand why pix would take some of what Rory said on a personal level. All I know is you're two good people and no harm was meant really. So kiss and make up. I said kiss! *pumps fist*

"God gave rock and roll to you" - the only teaching i like

sadly its just the way of things, i have many friends from many different religious backgrounds...the only one i cant understand fully is Jehovah's Witnesses, and i've tried. I mean yea sure...you get a level of comfort from your faith, your belief that something out there is guiding you...but for Kermits sake...i've watch a family let they're little 2 year old die because they're beliefs force them to refuse blood transfusions or major surgery...sorry but at that point i'd say "to hell with it...save my kid"...

sorry, rant done...

I didn't take offense. Me and Rory are all good. The words he chose were sort of inflammatory (which I know he didn't intend) so I just wanted to clarify.

Sorry if I offended anyone. Pix knows how I am and how I sometimes come off as rude and abrasive. No harm was meant by it. :duff :rock

If people are stupid enough to risk death because of some retarded belief in an ancient book of nonsense then I think they deserve everything they get.
I don't care which religion it is they are all equally full of crap IMO and the world would be a better place without any of them.

there was a story a few months back where some family let their teenage daughter die because they refused to get her treatment for a very basic form of diabetes... all they did was pray to god to make her better... I think they said that their belief in him wasnt as strong as it should have been, and that's why he took their daughter away from them...

I have nothing against people's beliefs or religious choices, but when they follow the religion BLINDLY, dont use common sense, and stuff like this happens, I get quite upset.

My Wife has some family that are Witnesses, and they are a bit strange about some things. They seem very "cult-ish" from what I have seen. They can only date or marry within the group, if a christian converts... they must burn their Holiday decorations in front of the Elders... And they don't celebrate anything except for Anniversaries. And to make it even more odd, they all seem exactly the same in personality and just give me the heebie jeebies a bit.

I respect their right to be a Witness and I don't heckle them or their religion... but personally.. they are a bit strange to me.

I had a cousin who died from cancer because she was a Christian Scientist. She was in her mid-thirties and left behind two young children.

Research has shown that people with kids suffer more than people without them:lol.

Without turning this into a religous debate(we already have a thread) as everyone deserves respect for their own personal choice but then again you have the right to disagree with it also.

So a child is a beautiful gift from god so when you have the chance to save that child you dont because its your gods choice or will not to.

Accordingly this is all based on the written word of man.

Thats not any god i would want to follow.

I worked on a burn ICU and had to let a 19 year old die for that reason. He had an 80% burn and needed blood desperately. Wouldn't accept it though. Very sad.
