Thanks 16k, you will hear from me soon!

The Sideshow hobbits (and maybe Gandalf, but I don't have him) came with the proper pipe. I was afraid it might be hobbit scale, but I think it looks fine in the hands of a regular 1/6 figure.

DoD that pipe looks pretty good!
I am looking for a gold pocket watch, anyone have a source for these?

Hey 16K, payment has been sent!

About pocket watches -- I know I've seen a number of them with open faces, but those are not correct. I would think a closed one would be pretty easy to sculpt or I think there are some solid pocket watch shaped charms for charm bracelets that might work.

Hey 16K, payment has been sent!

... and received!

Your head will ship Wednesday! :D

That pipe is just perfect! I have one in my still MIB Gandalf! I will probably use it a a template to sculpt mine!

I made a pocket watch for my sherrif. Basically, it's not to difficult to make. You make a sculpey ball, flatten one side and a smaller one for the mechanism. You bake it. The, the look is made with thin copper wire and glued. For the hands and number, just scale and print one from a fob watch on google then glue it. The glass can be made from a slightly concave part from a figure plastic tray... :D

Thanks for the tips everyone.

I was busy this weekend, I bought a Sideshow Lincoln, Sideshow Wyatt Earp, and the pinstripe suit. I never noticed that SH wore pinstripe pants, but I watched a few episodes this weekend and he does!

So, I have on order,
Top Hat
Frock Coat
Pinstripe pants
Pipe
Headsculpt
TT Narrow Shoulder

Thanks 16K, I look forward to getting the heads. If I'm lucky, they might arrive next week.

Can you post some pictures of the watch? I see the chain in the pictures of your sheriff, but alas the watch itself can't be seen.

Hirogen -- I admire your dedication! Those are some pretty hefty orders for the parts you need. I know the Sideshow figures in particular are not cheap.

Lol Hirogen, looks like your Holmes will be ready before mine! For the moment, I just have the pants, shoes, shirt and hat! BTW, the hat fits all right on the SH head. You just have to heat it up for about 20 secs with a hairdryer and push it on his head to make it take the right shape.

DoD, you'll probably get them by the end of next week. Today I cleaned the heads, drilled them and made the package. They'll ship Wednesday as I said! :D

Oh, and now, we need violins!!! :D

These are the violins I already have, but I am under no delusions about their quality:

One is Barbie and the other one is from the Sideshow Phantom of the Opera.

I'm probably going to get one like this.

I believe 4" is the right scale and there are plenty listed.

Is this for everyone or just DoD? I ordered a set too. Those shoes you bought and posted a few posts back, do they fit easily on a Hot Toys True Type foot?

LOL, I did go a little crazy this weekend, but I was in a Holmes mood! :rotfl

DoD, I like that violin! I saw that Barbie one and thought I would like something more detailed.

The Barbie violin would look a lot better with a repaint, but I'm not going to bother with it because I'm pretty sure it is over-sized as well as under-detailed.

Anyway, I would much rather get one of the one's from eBay as they are made from wood and will just look a million times better. I have a bunch of similar guitars and a cello and you have to be careful because they are a bit fragile, but the level of realism can't be beat.

I'm going to rig up a temp outfit for Holmes till I can can get one of the custom costume groups I know to do the grey deerstalker look.

Everyone except Alibi, but I'll cast his Wednesday and try to send it before the end of the week. As for the boots, I think they'll fit HT feet, but I haven't tried them yet! :D

Just back from the post office!

Your heads have just shipped! :D

This afternoon, I'll try to get pictures of my pocket watch and post them! :D

Awesome, can't wait to get my Holmes completed. I also bought the violin that was linked in this thread off ebay, I will let you know when it arrives.

What is everyone using for the tie? I guess you can get a piece of black fabric but I am not sure how to make the bow tie.

Don't know yet about the tie. Now if anyone knows of a tutorial to tie bows the Victorian way...:D

Here's my watch. sorry for the blurry picture though...

Great watch!

Thanks for letting us know the heads have shipped. If I'm lucky, I should get it by the end of next week.

I went through my parts boxes and realized I have almost everything I need to make two outfits for him: the gray country suit and the town frock coat and pin striped trousers. I did have to order a few things -- like a body! -- but I was pleased to have most of it already.

For the bow tie, I'm going to use satin ribbon and tacky glue and not worry about tying it. I'm going to use 1/8" (3mm) ribbon for the part that goes around the neck and the "knot" of the bow and 1/4" (7mm) ribbon for the bow part. Since he always wore the tie so the ends were tucked under the collar, the bow doesn't have to be particularly neat. I like it because you use so little ribbon each time that you can mess up a bunch and never have to worry about running out of material.

Good for you DoD!

I received a bunch of the stuff I ordered yesterday. The Lincoln also comes with a pocket watch, so I used that.

Nice watch 16K!

I had a Western figure that I used the pants, shirt, waistcoat from and put the Earp frock. Looks pretty good, but Sherlock is very lean, and the clothes on the narrow trutype look bulky. I will take a few pics tonight to show you.

Is there such a thing as a 1:6 scale magnifying glass? I can't find out.

I agree the narrow truetype is way too bulky. I'm going to build mine on a TTL WWII body, which is very similar to the HT slim although a tiny bit bigger and wider, with longer footpegs to get the right height. If you are also doing Watson, I think the narrow would be perfect for him, but Holmes needs something a lot thinner.

And speaking of Watson, is anyone else doing him? I'm afraid my plan is to use the Henry Higgins suit from Mattel. Please forgive me Watson for dressing you in Barbie clothes!

Could you send a link to what body you are referring? Does the HT Slim come with the longer foot pegs or the WWII body?

I will complete a Watson, but I was going to finish Sherlock first. Nice idea with the Henry Huggins. But what about an overcoat?

The longer foot pegs are something you have to get separately. So far, I think the only figure they've come with is the HT T-800 figure.

This is the TTL WWII body. You can get it as a carded figure or loose from their WWII boxed figures. All the pegs are 100% compatible with Hot Toys so you can use regular HT hands and feet on them.

For Mr. Holmes I'm looking at a Battlegear Toys overcoat that I hope won't be too hard to mod to the correct style. For Watson, I haven't completely made up my mind but I'm thinking about using their WWII American raincoat. The lines are more or less right, but the color would need to be changed.
