They're cheap to make, and take in a ******-ton of money. It would be stupid of them NOT to keep the franchise going until the well is dry.

Just looked at Saw VII's box office, it made more than 10x it's budget... they could make 20 more of these things and still make 100 mill each time

Yup. Saw 6 did about $40 million less than 7, but that means it still made 6 times its budget. It's like Adam Sandler movies. Regardless of how movie fans on sites this and elsewhere hate him, he is guaranteed box office gold.

i dont get the hate for this franchise, I would rather watch any saw movie than watch one of those crappy paranormal activity movies or those garbage exorcism movies
that are in right now

like it or hate it but Saw as a franchise is up there with other horror franchises like nightmare, halloween or friday. Jigsaw is a horror icon and much better than some of the crappy recent horror characters right now

if they could milk Halloween, friday and nightmare as much as they did i dont see what the problem is with more saw

Saw the first one, didnt care for it, at least not enough to make me watch the sequels. As for the other movies your mentioning, pure garbage. More than any other genre, it seems really hard to make a good horror film.

Good Horror is movies like The Shining, Rosemary's Baby, Jacob's Ladder, Angel Heart, The Dead Zone, The Thing and Alien.

Seems like most movies today are Torture/Gore-Porn, and seriously, I had enough of the slicing and dicing of scared teens a long time ago.

yeah movies like that will never be able to come out, but I'm just saying Jigsaw already joined the ranks of Ghostface, Chucky, Leatherface etc. And I am okay with that.
He is like the horror icon of the 2000s. That's really not so bad in my opinion, we could have had much worse.

I don't mind the Saw movies (good or bad). I will do the Saw marathon once every 2 years. I have even done the Saw marathon via all commentaries!! I'll do some work while it is playing in the background!

what I don't understand is the hate for the lack of good plot when None of the major slasher movies had a great plot or great acting. what horror slasher movies from the 80s or 90s had that great of a plot? specially the sequels?
you could say halloween and Friday and Texas had great premises, but the sequels didn't. Why the hate for the saw sequels?
