The first Dune was the absolute worst theatrical experience of my life. I would have had an easier time watching the movie in a room full of monkeys.
I walked out of that screening feeling as if I'd seen a film without watching it. And it put me off from watching it again, and consequently, from watching the sequel.
Some day maybe...

Hard agree.
To think that when I started collecting a Thor figure cost me £170 and now they're over £300 or so. And people are purchasing similar bare-bones figures for these costs several times in a year, and actually comment on what people value as a purchase.
Sometimes, to a collector, something different and trying to push the boundary, on which they'll only purchase a couple of collectible items a year, find that value far better than purchasing numerous run-of-the-mill items that others will probably sell as soon as they can.
It's a fools game telling people what something's value is. I see no value in this figure because I couldn't care less about this character, so my opinion would be why would someone spend this much money on it? Which fails to ackowledge someone else seeing huge value in their favourite character where three versions of it are offered as a seamless figure with a great likeness.

100%. So it's individual value. I see no value in owning many characters done alright in which I'll only be looking to swap it out as soon as the next comes around.
Some people value having huge collections, I prefer limited with my actual favourite character, not one's I just 'like'. 3K a year on 2-3 figures with more features that I value is better than buying 15 figures I just sort of like that don't offer anything new.
I will never understand people's perspective of things being better value simply because you can get more of something... how good is that something? More isn't intrisically better than fewer, but this is all subjective.
Would anyone here prefer to see JND step away from 1/3 scales (or statues in general) and just focus on 1/6?
I get the feeling they would be better off doing that - I see the large scale statue market becoming increasingly irrelevant - and, these companies are proving time and again, that we as collectors can get better quality at smaller scales. I'm primarily a statue collector - but over the last few months, I've been (subconciously) building out a 1/6 collection - and truth be told - I'm liking it much more - lower costs, less space required, less pressure to keep huge boxes in storage, greater variety of themes and characters, the ability to kitbash / customize....I feel the list could go on.

That’s enough for the mass consumer. Yes, you, Roan, and others here have higher expectations out of 1/6 and look down upon the mass consumer.
I don’t even think the rooted hair looks bang on accurate to what it’s supposed to. Funny how you’re liking what you’re seeing so far. Perhaps, the lack of familiarity is the reason why. Still solid rooted hairing though.

Obviously. But I can say the same for JND Kojun Works portraits. TDKR Catwoman is probably their best (so far). The rest? Not at all, IMO. Just like you’re entitled to your opinion, so am I.
Yeah, the vest is ill-fitting. One of the first things that jumped out at me when unveiled. It’s like he’s wearing a short length vs a regular length. I recall you requested me to let them know about the flared out pant leg. Lo and behold, INART didn’t do anything about it.
We’ll see.
Much the same reading those boring AF books. Most overrated drivel, idolized by people who believe themselves intellectuals for admiring them.
I'm not sure about the material. I just meant the experience was a nightmare. There were people walking in and out frequently. A light bulb flickering on and off. People texting on their phones. Constant chatter. And there were kids flashing their phones at the screen doing puppet motions. At one point a fight broke out in the theater, while the most important scene was playing.

I’m going to go out on a limb here not owning any JND figures (and thinking the final joker looked pretty rough) and actually think that I don’t think this is an insane price. It’s slightly overpriced… I’d say about 1400 is more justified. But it’s not surprising that Kojun takes a more custom level to his own line despite working for hot toys at one point. Much like Viper from inart, Kojun is a customizer artist by inception. In fact I’m pretty sure he is THE original custom artist.
Now the jury is out until the thing is released but I think arguably what you are looking at in the proto pic - it is top end custom quality caliber. Much like inart this is sort of a tier between a hand made custom and a mass market item. If you break it down it’s 600 dollars a figure. I’d argue that’s way too much for the maid and airport figure (with the full silicone body I’d say 350 feels right for them) but 600 is about right for the rooted hair cat-woman figure it’s about right if you look at inarts price model. For reference id you are looking at a custom figure: a full hair job from one of the top custom artists should cost about 600 bucks). At least I’d charge no less than that personally. And that’s not including a hand painted sculpt or the rest of the figure.
I don’t know how JND go about their hairing, or how Inart does… I’ve painted prototypes for big companies but the mass manufacturing thing I have no exposure to, but the hairing on a mass releases it’s been one of my main critiques from inart at least . Given I do it on a custom level, and I know the application means of gluing on the hair and finding the right hide of fur and specific placement and styling means are incredibly tedious. I don’t know what parts of these figures are factory or hand done but I know it’s not a model that can be scaled to ensure 100% consistency - as 80% of the Aragorn’s I saw from inart are varying in terms of application and overall look . Ranging from really nice to about as far from the prototype as you can imagine (and I’d argue downright poor looking)
So I have a lot of critiques on this sort of in-between custom and mass high end figure business model. Mostly that if you’re paying that much, you should not have to take a gamble on getting a good copy or a bad one.
In any case I think there’s a place for a Nolan catwoman at this price point. I think the character is pretty meh and I know most do, but there are a lot of Nolan heads out there.,. but let’s say that there was a small run of a hand made custom figure… if it looked like that prototype, outfit, accessories, sculpt, hairing, paint (assuming I wasn’t doing my own hair and paint and I was a pure collector) 1800 for one figure feels about right- in some cases they go up to about 3 grand,
If you want a more affordable generally mass market feeling high end catwoman that's what the hot toys is for I’d say.
Their last release was really rough apart from the improved body and outfit I’d say though.
I have questions and criticisms for what I’ve seen on JND so far but all in all I’d consider this a very exciting and promising release

I agree, Kojun is THE guy. It’s a shame most here aren’t familiar. We’ve got the best of the best spearheading this line that we could’ve ever asked for, genius, truly. Innovator.
I might be on the young side compared to most of those here, but I’ve watched it all since 2009 like the old heads here. From the first Bank Robber Joker and DC Direct 1:6 Ledger, Kato inspired DX11, to all of the Adam Gu x Kato pieces I was too young to afford but sought after for so long growing up.
It was truly next level seeing Adam add strands of hair to his sculpted hair Joker sculpts for the first time still seeing sculpted hair peek through, that planted the seed that grew into all of this. Isn’t it astonishing where we’re at man in regards to both custom and mass production?
I also feel the same regarding that mid level from typical mass production to outright 1/1 custom. It is why InArt rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning when they delivered such a poor Ledger release for the price.
So many promises that ultimately underdelivered in such a severe way when you’ve seen it all as intothevoid has also mentioned.
I don’t see the alternate looks here being only worth $350 USD though, look what Hot Toys churns out in comparison for that bracket. The realism just doesn’t compare.
There’s currently a custom airport Hathaway on eBay right now that is asking $2K by itself and the proportions are completely shot out. In comparison to that, it’s absolutely no question.
I felt the same, then I watched the second and it made me go back to the first. The second watch was better after I knew the characters.
