Yeah the second Headsculpt is a huge miss for me, he looks derpy and high. I also don’t remember him doing that expression in the movie. Type A it is.
I really like INART’s but I never liked how they didn’t sell a rooted purple coat Joker by itself. I only ever need the “main look” for each character.

Type-A brings everything I’d want so perhaps this is the move.

Exactly as I said, every release from the various companies will have something better then the other. JND has overall the better sculpt. Artisan may have the better clothing set overall and IA wins in accessories. Sad to need them all to have the definitive release but perhaps they’ll make one years later and more pricey too. I’ll be trying for Type C but do we know if USA will be included to sell to?

I agree. You’d need to source from each to potentially put together a definitive 1/6 Joker. 😆

They say Type C is available worldwide so those in the US should be able to buy it from the JND website just as anyone else.

First comparison photo, is it perfect? Nope, but it’s still one of the most realistic figures we have ever seen in 1:6 so far and I’m liking it a lot. I really liked hot toys but when I see JND’s all I see is a statue on the top pic.

Those explosions at every animation had me laughing out loud behind my desk. Did a high school intern add that sound effect? :lol

The regular sculpt looks really good overall. It looks amazing from some angles, though from others it looks like his right eye is a bit more open than the left, which makes him look like he's squinting somehow.

I'm happy that I haven't seen anything though that makes me want to pay $800-1000 for this and upgrade my InArt. I decided to be an early adopter with InArt, but I don't think I'll do that here.
Haha yes the video presentation itself almost puts me off this figure.. those explosions clipping at the edge of their mask, popping away before they fade, etc, cheapens the whole unveiling.

The move to patent 'technology' such as 'magnetic eyes', 'silicon replication' and 'invisible joints' feels somewhat petty in a creative industry such as this. They should succeed on their merits of incredible quality rather than locking other teams out from exploring similar approaches.

I have the JND 1/3 Indy on order, JND 1/3 Batman on the way, and will probably order the Type A of this Joker as it does look great, but their attitude as a company increasingly rubs me the wrong way.

hopefully theyre able to maintain their quality this time.

im aware lighting and styling is a factor, but hopefully within this small scale and having compartments that securely protects the hair so it doesnt get tampered with, that it would be able to hold its shape during shipping so the heads dont get tossed around but gonna be harder than usual since it has a sculpted chest piece.

its to be expected that these companies have a fall off in quaility when it comes to the production phase, but they could at the very least take better care.

1/6 collectors are far brutal compared to statue collectors.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFT

that can't be right can it? People wouldn't let this pass. These comparisons surely must be exaggerated

I could be wrong, but it looks like you took those screen grabs from Justin’s reviews if I’m not mistaken and his tend to really wash out the details of anything he reviews whether that’s statues or figures. So I wouldn’t use how the statues look in his reviews as a good indicator of what they look like in hand. There are way better reviews of those pieces on YouTube that show all the skin texture and other finer details that you can’t see in his reviews

JND will definitely have to prove themselves in 1:6, just as InArt had to (from Joker to Gandalf, there was already a great leap in final quality). Silicone at 1:6 scale adds another factor to it.

But those three pictures you posted are such bad pictures in terms of lens distortion, lighting and overall quality that it's at a point that comparing them to the prototype is worthless IMO. For all I know the final product of those three is not very good (I don't follow statues closely), but those pictures give me no information as to their actual quality.

yeah those are justin's screen grabs. someone on FB brought it up but also people are posting their JND 1:3 statues on the groups with varying degree of quality, especially the hair that either makes it look good or kills the entire likeness

it mostly comes down to how the owner styles the hair or at all. (mainly the arthur fleck and joker statues)

Yup definitely comes down to the hair styling really a lot of the time with JND’s statues. Pattinson looks pretty great in that pic you posted there. Probably the best I’ve seen that one look

These two TDK Joker statues that were restyled by Tetsu are much better than how it is on the one you posted which was right out of the box.

I do think that’s part of the problem with rooted hair in that if it doesn’t come style correctly right out of the box and the collector doesn’t have the skill to restyle, your figure/statue you paid loads of money for ends up not looking so great. So JND really need to nail the out of the box look for this to really succeed. Even InArt failed to match the proto hair on their first try with Joker’s production hair, but seem to have learned from that and succeeded with the production hair on Pennywise and Gandalf from pics I’ve seen.

The Harley Quinn earlier looked the same, Batman 2022 was amazing, and their 1/3 joker gets a pass because it’s their first release. It’s hard to tell if the quality dropped a lot because these owners have flat lighting on their products. Add three point lighting to the Arthur Fleck figure and it should look much better.

one thing i hope that this company takes advantage of is the fact that the heads are smaller and can be protected unlike the 1:3 heads. though i think its possible to protect those type of heads but it'd cost more and its something that isn't common in the statue community or companies to be that extra careful about the hair.

my sort of issue with rooted hair mass produced is the fact they give them so much hair, specifically joker. a character who's hair is thinning out and borderline balding, they arent willing to do that or arent willing to trust collectors enough with the hair. inart came with so much product that it was borderline sculpted hair, (sticky sculpted hair for that matter). hopefully they specify that these heads will be protected during shipping or that they're listening. they have yet to mention anything about a secured box to protect the hair like inart during shipping (though some odd ball cases where there was damage)

gandalf was really great. probably one of the best final production out there, pennywise's hair can be a little out there and messy, its well kept but that's easy. it wouldn't be hard for a collector to water the hair and mishape the hair so it looks more natural

one other big factor is the hair coming in already ruined because of shipping and its been known that statue collectors tend to not know or have futzing in their bone like some 1/6 collectors do. a statue collector's mindset is usually (grab a statue and put it on a display, no hassle. and it should look good. no finangling. they arent buying statues to play doll)

This is disappointing. I think I'm leaning more towards Inart, though I should note, I set a higher bar for JND, so it stings to see them follow up with the same mistakes as other companies.

I don't like the shirt color and the ridiculous oversized collar that, in almost every shot, the head appears to drown in.

I don't like the vest length and particularly I'm flustered by its color. Inart, Topo, Hot Toys, why can't anybody get it right? It's rather obvious..

The trousers are too short. Personally, I don't favor the silver chain.

Coat looks great, but the missing stitching on the lapels is frustrating to see again.

The plastic shoes are an eyesore. Why do a silicone skin covered endo skeleton, but take a pass on the shoe material. Even Hot Toys tried something unique 10 years ago with the DX11, yet no company, Hot toys included, wants to bother with trying that again. Plastic can pass for certain material. But it doesn't for the shoes Ledger wore.

Base sculpt is good. Paint is noticeably improved over Inart, but the hair isn't quite right (neither company got it right).

The smiling sculpt is hideous @Wor-Gar. Rather than capture something from a film still, they chose creative liberty with this expression, and I don't think it translates.
The saddest part is, I don't see anybody stepping in with a better offering on the market. This is the best we're going to get. The extent of it pretty much. I always knew JND would play their hand, but they played it short. I know they can do better, but they're content with something that's "decent enough". What a shame, because they've already done the hardest part of the work. If they were inclined to listen and improve, they can kick this up easily to a much higher level.

we'll just have to see if theyre willing to take feedback and change. people always say to not buy a product to boycott, but if we're vocal enough they might just change the proto. inart's protos may not be stellar (most of them) but at least the company shows they're willing to take feedback and improve upon the previous
