Kojun was great back in the day back in the day when there wasn't as much talent. His name is just for legacy/marketing now, his sculpting hasn't kept up with his peers.

Exactly he had the edge but then let his ego bring him down
Their Catwoman is killer though. And a great example of what they can achieve (assuming they can stick the landing).

It's probably, objectively, the most impressive mass produced figure to date (even with its hiccups).

The HT v1 is more accurate on the catwoman suit which arguably is the main damn thing in the entire set. If they don’t fix that they deserve to go out of business

I mean, people are allowed their opinions, but when comparing it to Inart which is literal ass that opinion is shaky.

JND new years resolution should be getting Kojun into making office coffee whilst that new Squid Game sculptor does male portraits.

I wonder if the blowback will help costs of items. There was a bit of hooplah around the time Fleck came out for costs and then Joker and WW84 sold for like 500 less from the off the bat.

Hope they don't ignore the criticisms.

The caked hair and lack of green dye and dark colored roots (on most copies) is ass on INART, I’ll give you that. Everything else is pretty nice. But that’s just me lol

waistcoat is too bright, but ig it isn't as bright as how hot toys made theirs. i can pick apart that figure all day lol same goes for pretty much any mass produced ledger

still do not understand why companies keep trying to do that and jnd is the only one to have a semblance of a closer color

The DX01 had a more accurate dark vest (though still not perfect).... so weird how they all just went lime green after.

I hate how everyone makes the blazer a light or med gray color. The closest anyone's ever made is Queen's 1/4 bluer tone.

Anything good about JND's purple coat is ruined by those lapels being way too high and sticking out.

No way JND are going to publicly admit a failure! I guarantee - if we see any response (at all) from JND on this situation - it will be a push back on the collectors. It's just par for the course at this point.

The reason for this - well it's simple - money. As long as JND is shifting product, either via direct sales, or via retailer orders - they WILL maintain an aloof attitude. Period. They will only be humbled when / if they see a drop in revenue. People complaining about JND, in any way, but still continue to feed the beast - are their own biggest problem.

This is where I have to look in the mirror - I have open pre-orders with JND, and I'm thinking about more this year - based on what they said they will release - but let's be real, the prices WILL rise this year, and I will need to make a hard choice - continue to buy or draw a line (hint: my biggest issue is runaway pricing) - I'm almost at the point where my heart sings when they screw up a likeness, or drop quality in some way - as it's a way to justify walking away.

it wouldnt be the first time, they did something similar with their arwen statue when collectors were complaining about the likeness and they something around the lines in one of their update videos "if you don't like it, don't buy it"

There’s really nothing about this offering that’s even enticing to have. Between all three licensed TDK Jokers, the only thing that’s hands down more screen accurate is the shirt. IMO.

I mean there is.

Let's put it into perspective because there's actually misinformation being put out - like in Jedha's video where he keeps saying one figure is $1700. It's not, Typce C with two figures was around £1400-1500 with free shipping.

The closest thing to compare it to was the dire shambles of a release from Inart. The double-pack was over £1k from what I remember before I cancelled. Not only did that not come out at all what was promised from the proto, it has an awful sculpt and paint application with **** looking tailoring to boot - it's frumpy, everything is heavy-handed, and comes with a jackpot of what sort of yellow thick scarecrow hair you would get whilst coming in an absurd box.

It was supposed to revolutionise 1/6, which let's face it, failed to really do, aside from make Hot Toys perform slightly better than what they should have been doing for what their prices were reaching. The best it did is create a standard of rooted hair offerings and single sculpt arms. It didn't offer anything new at all. The secondary sculpt is so near to the main one, except it has wonky eyes, that it's almost pointless buying the double pack. There is absolutely nothing spectacular of that release that even Hot Toys did better with their version.

Whether the sculpts of JND's is better for the price is obviously debateable. But, what isn't deniable is that you clearly get two different sculpts and two fully clothes figures and two fully sculpted dogs. Regardless of people thinking it's a gimmick or not, both these figures have actual rooted hair, which looks to be, aside from still not being the best likeness, the best hair of the three offerings, both sculpts also have moving magnet glass eyes, one set seamless poseable fingers and wrists, more form fitted tailoring with better likeness to the film, and silicone material.

So for the sake of argument chalk all that down to the surplus £400 difference between the two offerings. Again, it doesn't matter whether everyone thinks all this is worth it or not, the fact of the matter is that it has more intricacy and complicated material and technology that fills that £400 gap. People are speaking as if their £1k investment of Inart is good because it was cheaper - in my opinion people who actually went through with that purchase got fobbed off, I don't know how you can be happy with that release and still have paid that much for two figures that you know as soon as the next 2.0 comes along will be ditched in the bin because it didn't do anything well.

I can understand likeness complaints etc. it's not perfect, but the level of stretch that's happening right now is laughable, and again, mostly coming from people who weren't even interested in the purchase to begin with. Show me a side by side of the proto and release of Inart at 1k and the side by side of proto for Typce C JND at £1.4 and explain to me how the Inart was even remotely worth any of that.

I'm wondering if you can adjust the lapels, the 1/3 has them as they should be, might be just how they posed it, but if not then it wasn't very well designed with how they should be.

You're right, they'll probably glaze over it, probably for the best. If they've sold all of their allotment to people ultimately it's the opinions of those who purchased that matter most. But if it is the case I hope that they take notes regardless. I don't think JND will ever be in trouble, they've never and never will cater for all those 1/6 collectors complaining about the price. So I completely agree with you. In the end, they've offered a product and it's pretty much come out as they offered it.

Ultimately I think go with whatever you think is best. For me, I don't have any allegiance to any company, as long as I'm getting what I expected I'm happy. Their next release looks interesting with all the metal armour but not for me. Have to say as well that the Beserk statue looks great also.

It'll be interesting to see what their next western 1/6 character will be. I don't think they'll die based on this release.

You make a lot of great arguments (as usual) - but, is the question really about JND vs InArt vs Hot Toys - or....is the discussion more centered around the fact that these companies are actively pushing the ceiling on pricing for these 1/6 scale figures to unrealistic levels, and giving us a bunch of gash for the trouble.

It's insane that - regardless of Hot Toys, InArt, or JND - that they're charging these prices and (as you say) each company is putting out a product that simply doesn't fulfil its design intent.

I realise that the cost of things will always tend upwards over time (except for electronics - but, as they age and become cheaper, they also become redundant and replaced by newer, more capable and more expensive products) but what we're seeing in 1/6 pricing (and perhaps figures pricing overall) is this (almost greed like) rush to make this, already niche hobby, unattainable except to the super elite.

Am I alone, or does anyone else feel like these companies are actually laughing at us at every release!

Thank you.

Well, it sort of is. Because it's flat out true that JND is the most expensive "mass market" 1/6 company. So from that their offerings are already in the framework of comparison for what other companies offer. I think it would be much easier to determine the worth of them in a vacuum of what others provide, but they've not.

And seeing as many people make the comparisons then it's best to put away to whatever extent you can any subjective markers of sculpt likeness etc. and compare what is offered.

Inart = two figures one without a jacket and two sculpts very similar, probably all 3D printed at lower costs and tailoring, magnets and single sculpt hands and arms that aren't poseable or basic wrist joints. That's over £500 per figure. With the level of work how the hair came out I wouldn't say the hair is worth the increase in value for what ostensibly is a Hot Toys figure that would have been £250 a couple years ago, if that.

JND = two figures with two full sets of clothing, to very different sculpts with moving magnetic eyes, both have more styled actual rooted hair, silicone skin, metal skelton for seamless joints, better tailoring, two additional sculpted items (dogs) + accessories.

Without even talking about how good any of these offerings are; and you're purely talking from a material and production cost, unless you're fooling yourself, I don't think anyone would say regardless of their opinion on 'gimmicks' that the Inart pack is really worth over 1k.
